A political schism once begun cannot be stopped. It develops a force of its own and moves in ways that cannot be controlled. The consequences can only be appreciated after the fires have been extinguished.

Scott Morrison will be sworn in as the 30th Prime Minister of Australia. The fight is not over. In many ways, it has only just begun. He won the spill 45 votes to Dutton’s 40. Julie Bishop was knocked out in the first round of voting. Morrison’s deputy is Josh Frydenberg.

Malcolm Turnbull’s delaying tactics allowed Morrison to assemble the numbers. He almost certainly did not have them yesterday.

n the comings days, expect the words “healing”, “repair”, “revival” and “restoration” to be vomited out of a thesaurus by senior Liberal figures. These words will be a nonsense, yet another damning exercise in the party’s obsession with introspection.

“one” probably does Boa. At the most two.

Rudd puts his 5 cents worth in and surprise, surprise he’s an Abbott basher and Murdoch conspiracy theorist. How cynical and lazy to blame Murdoch. Was he behind Abbott’s 30 negative polls, Turnbull’s 38 negative polls and Rudd and labor getting trounced by Abbott’s coalition?

Groan, Mr. Insider as we read: “Tony Abbott is holding out against accepting new Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s offer to make him a special envoy for Indigenous Affairs, saying he will only take on the role if it is more than an honorary position.
The former prime minister also said he would not be retiring anytime soon and was committed to helping the government win the next election.”

Soon to be PM Bill Shorten has thrown a bucket of water on the idea of Morrison installing Julie Bishop as our next GG, Mr. Insider.
No doubt Bill has someone else in mind when Cosgrove finishes in March 2019, please no one say “Kevin Rudd”!

Kevin Rudd. Top bloke highly respected internationally, even if regarded as too abrupt for the delicate little petals in Australia. About time we had a GG who wasn’t a throwback to the imperial school of smarm.

This knee-capping caper must run in the family.

  • Milton says:

I wonder if Evan Hughes will have another tilt at Wentworth?

  • Bella says:

Disappointing to see so much treachery rewarded.

    • Boadicea says:

Agree Bella. Although Dutton appears to have been used by Abbott to achieve the fall of Turnbull, he should have been told to piss off too. All this ”we’re all friends now” deceives no-one.
As for Abbott, he will continue to plot and scheme. He should have been told that his envoy job was based at Fitzroy Crossing with no visitation rights to Canberra. Although I’m not sure if the residents of Fitzroy Crossing would be happy with that. I get the feeling that the indigenous population are just as appalled as the rest of the nation.

It’s what they do Bella. It’s considered a virtue.

  • Henry Donald J Blofeld says:

That nice new PM Mr. Morrison is looking for a job for ex-ousted PM Tony Abbott, Mr. Insider. Am sure if he called for “suggestions” from the long-suffering Public we could come up with something for Abbott! “Sandhill Monitor” in the Simpson Desert springs to my mind, but one must not be unkind.

  • Milton says:

Abbott not the retiring type. Who would have thunk it?
