I know there are a number of Muslim comedians both in Australia and around the world. Good luck to them because if ever a religion needed to poke a bit of fun at itself, Islam is it.
Any Muslim humorist has his or her work cut out. At a scriptural level there are numerous forbidding entries regarding laughter in the Koran and associated texts.
The Hadith says, “Do not laugh too much, for laughing too much deadens the heart.”
Potentially this means any Muslim who uses the laugh out loud acronym is looking at an apostasy charge and in grimmer corners of Islam like Saudi Arabia this has probably already happened.
The Hadith also puts the brakes on satire, too. “Woe to the one who speaks and tells lies in order to make the people laugh; woe to him, woe to him.”
Iran’s mullah, the Shi’ite cleric Ayatollah Khomeini said Islam was a joke free religion. There was not a laugh to be had according to Khomeini. One look at that grizzled visage and you just knew he hadn’t cracked it for a giggle in a very long time, if at all.

JtI – I too am experiencing a minor hiccup and that is when I go my favourites and press this site it does not necessarily arrive with the latest comments. Yesterday, or was it the day before, I would go to favourites a few times throughout the day and the number of posts would remain the same. I thought it may be because Jack was having a quiet or busy day. It wasn’t until I posted a comment that it showed new additions, and even responses to those additions. Since then I’ve been following JackSprat’s (thanks mate) advice of hitting the refresh button. Not a big deal I thought you’d like to know, Jack. Cricket tomorrow!
Can’t explain any of this other than to say it might be your device caching. Refresh is your friend, Milton.
Good man.

“CotC I can see straight through you.”
Huh? …. assuming the power of the Almighty already mate?
The next pronouncement will be, let me guess, ….
“”Let there be light; and the light began. Dismayed saw the light, and found it good, ,,,,”
I shant go on Dismayed, because you obviously know what comes next mate, eh.
PS. You are a funny fellow sometimes.
Nah Dismayed isn’t the almighty, Just Superman.
Serious question, just how long was old Yahweh living in the dark before he hit on the idea of light?
Perhaps your assumption was incorrect me old mate
Perhaps, but that’s not an answer.
What’s the difference between “answer” and “reply”?

You’re obviously referring to my earlier mention of the Harry Potter books v the Holy Bible and you have attempted to draw your usual infantile conclusions.
Let me tell you something about books, including the Holy Bible.
When the bloke who was establishing the Dewey Decimal Number system for libraries (I assume you’ve been into such an establishment at some time), he came across a book that talked about a dude who made water into wine and another dude who talked to a burning bush. The Dewey bloke thought deeply for some time (something you may not be familiar with Dismayed) and he decided, quite correctly, that the Holy Bible should have its own special caregory.
Pop along to one of those places and have a loof for yourself. They won’t hurt and you can’t miss them. They’re fairly quiet joints and they have rows and rows of things they call “books” mate.
I guess “caregory” is a special category.
“They’re fairly quiet joints and they have rows and rows of things they call “books” mate. ”
That’s true Carl, but I bet you didn’t know you can borrow those books and read them.

“Sorry Carl, was hoping to get more for my zero dollar than old farts endlessly sniping . Go on, tell me I’m dreaming.”
I’d rather you not refer to me as “old” Wraith. And I wouldn’t dare tell you you’re dreaming.
I mean how on earth does one get to beddy-byes in your neck of the woods with all that non stop droning of those thousands of windmills blowing their heads off (sometimes literally I understand).
If I had your wit and wisdom Wraith I’d be sure looking for a much quieter place for a snooze.
Night night dear.
And the Lord looketh upon the land and sayeth unto himself ,for there was no-one else to sayeth to. “It is a bit still and ordinary. ”
So the Lord created the wind.
And he felt the wind and saw it was good.

We had a windmill clanking away in the back yard Carl, never lost a minute of sleep. Consider for thousands of years all that commerce in ships powered by wind and grain ground to flour by the wind.

I have some great images of sailing ships to post for next time you go carping and harping and p*ssing into the wind.
Give ’em heaps. The answer my friend is blowing in the wind.
You know solar makes no noise at all right? 22 panels on the roof lovey, last bill came in at $178 for four power chewing adults. That is a drop of over $800 per quarter. My initial unsubsidised cost of $5000 will be recouped in just over two years.
My sons are dead set we should be putting in a wind turbine for winter, and no, where it will be sited, I won’t here it.
.
Battery banks here I come…….
omg ‘hear’ it

We I was small we used to holiday around Coffin Bay and Pt Lincoln. I would spend all day playing in rock pools. Mum said she had no worries knowing where I was, because I was always singing. Sorry I cant remember the particular tune, you’ll have to wing it!
AEMO report released today shows fossil fuel power generation is the cause of the blackouts and load shedding last week.http://reneweconomy.com.au/nsw-heatwave-another-catalogue-of-fossil-fuel-power-failures-16667/
But wait it gets better. Another report released today by the ANU shows power prices have risen more in the coal fired states of NSW and Queensland than the states with renewables like SA and Tas. But still the coalition and the Australian are running a misinformation campaign. http://reneweconomy.com.au/sa-power-bills-rose-less-past-decade-coal-states-95588/
Ha!
http://www.smh.com.au/comment/forget-what-youve-heard-about-coal-electricity-prices-are-going-up-regardless-20170221-guht7s.html
We have the answer. Solar and storage. Coal is backwards thinking. Now that is logic.

It is clearly the coalition that is playing politics with Energy security. Credlin let the cat out of the bag last week admitting for the COALition it is all about ideology and politics.

“the rate of warming over the last century is very unusual in the context of glacial and interglacial cycles. When the earth has moved out of ice ages in recent millennia it has taken, on average, 1000 years to warm the planet by 1℃. The earth’s temperature in recent decades has risen at around 1℃ per 100 years, or faster. So the recent rate of warming is very unusual in this context. ”

A commercial decision from Coca Cola to quit SA due to rising power prices. They’re off the WA and Qld.
Giddyup lads…………………………….
Wrong as usual. Coca cola made NO mention of Power prices. “The company’s Australian division managing director Barry O’Connell said the state’s payroll tax and power prices did not play a big part in the decision to close the factory”
Their statement was clear. The current location is constrained due to where it is, very close to the city and the need to replace out of date equipment to continue to produce. You are referring to another article by Owen’s the SA bureau chief for the Australian who has been running a misinformation campaign on power for some time. They will continue to run their distribution out of Adelaide. Changing your name has not changed your bias. I repeat. Coca Cola made No mention of Power prices. the article is pure misinformation “fake news” if you like as your type do. The sheep of the flock do not fall far from the church of broads.

Pass that by me one more time, once is never with a man like you …
oops, I should have added ENOUGH !
Things go better without Coke eh Dismayed?
Even the employees recognised the plant was inefficient, and of course power costs/failures would have absolutely nothing to do with that.
One thing’s for sure, you live in the right state, totally dismayed.
Why for one minute of your minute existence would you not ask why in the same announcement CCA confirms another $95 million investment in plant in Queensland?
Again this is Coke’s own Chief Executive Lou maybe Cokes decision has something to do with the 37% slide in profits?? Never let the facts get in the way of your outdated ideology will you. ” Ms Watkins denied South Australia’s embrace of crushing renewable energy targets that triggered state-wide blackouts and rocketing energy prices for homes and businesses was behind the facility’s closure.”
http://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/companies/coke-feels-heat-as-shoppers-eye-cheaper-rivals/news-story/7713a1c43213f571c2715a382119fa55
Note the Newsocrp terminology deliberately misleading people. No Surprises.
Your logic (?) about the fall in profits kind of falls apart when you note $95 million Coke are investing in upgrades elsewhere.
You further say they will continue to run their distribution out of Adelaide. That’s for SA sunshine, how else would they get the two litre bottles to the seven eleven stores where thye go like hot cakes?
Here’s another on e for you, Pfizer about to depart SA, there’s another 100 manufacturing jobs or so. Read my comments on BHP at the top of the blog.
There’s lots of dots out there, borrow a pencil and see if you line a few up.
Did you miss the Newscorp commissioned report showing Queensland and Tas. having the highest electricity prices and SA having a smaller increases over the last 10 years in price rises than NSW, Queensland and Vic.
Power cost had nothing to do with the decision. According to Coke.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-02-22/coca-cola-amatil-to-close-adelaide-factory-sa-asx/8291986
All roads lead to lovely reliable Coal Fired Power Stations, Boadicea. Production goes off a wee tad when you have 24 hour electricity blackouts.
Aversion to black or brown coal is racism at its most base(load), Henry.
I am not here to support the SA Government or its handling of energy matters, indeed considering the extent of our energy reserves of all types, you have to think that the whole subject has been managed terribly by all players, but read the article properly Boadicea.
‘A Coca-Cola spokesman, who was checking on the extent of power price rises at the Adelaide plant following inquiries by The Australian, said the company’s position was that issues to do with the Thebarton site, such as age and its “constrained CBD location”, were the main reasons for its closure and not the cost of energy.’
I’m sorry I have to ask for a citation here. I’ve seeen the reports on Coke, no one mentioned power prices. My information was no room for required expansion on that site, plus the sky high price tag for the land the old factory is standing on. Put to housing the real estate is worth millions. Less than a kilometre from the CBD, and facing parklands. Prime, prime site.
So they are off to expand expand elsewhere.
But, if you can show me where your information came from…..
Exactly right Wraith. It costs less for Coca-Cola to transport their product to SA, than to run an old production site. It’s a shame, but all they are doing is implementing cost-saving strategies. Think of the money that can be made from selling the real estate.
Blaming high power prices in SA is a bit laughable when you consider the cost of power elsewhere in Australia. Darwin power costs are probably the highest in Australia and they continually have power outages.
I don’t quite know why SA is constantly ridiculed….I love the place, great food, great wine and stunning contrasts of countryside. Going there this year for about 6 weeks in May/June….can’t wait.
SA has a Labor government and Newscorp and their political arm the coalition want them gone.
May/June in gods own land, for some reason cruising around that time of year always has greensleeves playing in my head.
Cheers Penny.
Nothing to do with power prices.
