Stop laughing, this is Islam

I know there are a number of Muslim comedians both in Australia and around the world. Good luck to them because if ever a religion needed to poke a bit of fun at itself, Islam is it.

Any Muslim humorist has his or her work cut out. At a scriptural level there are numerous forbidding entries regarding laughter in the Koran and associated texts.

The Hadith says, “Do not laugh too much, for laughing too much deadens the heart.”

Potentially this means any Muslim who uses the laugh out loud acronym is looking at an apostasy charge and in grimmer corners of Islam like Saudi Arabia this has probably already happened.

The Hadith also puts the brakes on satire, too. “Woe to the one who speaks and tells lies in order to make the people laugh; woe to him, woe to him.”

Iran’s mullah, the Shi’ite cleric Ayatollah Khomeini said Islam was a joke free religion. There was not a laugh to be had according to Khomeini. One look at that grizzled visage and you just knew he hadn’t cracked it for a giggle in a very long time, if at all.

    JB,

Where do you think your Prophet gets all his material? They will know – they always do!!

But less of this distraction; there is no excuse for you devoting your time to other than Devotion Efforts.

I am sure your friends and fellow parishioners will readily volunteer to keep your nose to the wheel.

Calling for volunteers for the ‘JB – Boosters’ only those willing to disallow any of JB’s attempts at diversion of effort need apply. He has only two years in which to complete his Masters before Armageddon or other cataclysmic disaster befalls him!!

A “Clasp and Yank”, Mr Insider, have you had one, and of course I am referring to POTUS Trump’s unique handshake which is startling many. Luckily have found an article that explains it all, attached. A good firm handshake is all that is required imho.

With Jack’s kind indulgence. You might have read about the shark attack here in FNQ. It turns out I am acquainted with the victim and someone has organized a GoFundMe page: https://www.gofundme.com/exr646

Speaking of humourless religions, be wary of the disciples and devotees of the Church of AGW (Anthropomorphic God Worshippers). Not a lot of laughs to be had with that mob. And by God they can be a bit odd. Their basic tenet, or article of faith, if you will, is that the earth is doomed, rooted etc and this is the result of man (and woman). In this instance man, the creator of man made emissions, is a tool, a fool and down right destructive. Fool man is changing the climate, oops Climate (as far as deities goes an oldy but a goody). In the other instance, man is smart and good and capable of predicting, through man made computers with man made models (like in Vogue, a new one every coupla months), the catastrophe that confronts us; this man is called Scientist. Thus far, thus bad. At this stage, one thing I can be sure of this faith is that those who are a bit tentative, doubtful even, of joining in the cult are the object of scorn, public humiliation, mirth, called deniers, and so on and so forth. What I can’t be sure of, as they have not informed us, is when the earth will end, and how this will pan out. Nor have the new prophets laid down in stone how to rectify this foreseen catastrophe. Some of the ideas proffered have been to harness natural, environmental sources such as the wind and sun and water and transfer them into energy, to ameliorate the damage caused by our harnessing of a natural, environmental source, that being coal, which most of us rely on as a source of energy. However, despite any concrete plan, or solution, what this religion uniformly promotes as a cure, a panacea, is the charging of money. $$$$. A whole lotta $$$. Unlike my religious club, the AGW’ers don’t believe in voluntary donations, no, they want to hit every one, believer and non-believer alike. And thus far, unlike my team, this mirthless mob haven’t promised us any goodies in the afterlife. No, all they have to offer for the future is ungrateful grandchildren. Of course these grandchildren would also be man and woman, who are the source, and underpinning of the new(ish) AGW faith. No doubt they’ve a bit of tweaking to do. And I’ve no doubt they will, as it seems one of their strongest suits.

“No religion is any better than any other they all are designed to control people to judge people to stop people from thinking for themselves. ”

You are sometimes such a silly, shallow fellow Dismayed (I use the word “shallow “advisedly). You have deliberately closed your mind to eveything JackSprat has been on about re Islam for the past week or so.

Name another mainstream religion that buries those who “think for themselves”, up to their necks and stones them to oblivion. That’s certainly one way of “stopping people from thinking for themselves” and that where your “shallowness” clicks in.

Have you been conked on the noggin recently by any chance mate? Or do you occasionally, for no apparent reason, just become bereft of your senses?

    • Dismayed says:

CotC I can see straight through you. Move along. I don’t need and this blog certainly your does not need your continuous dishonest rubbish. You stick to fantasies, I will stick with facts, research, data and pragmatism. Real life in other words instead of living in a fantasy echo chamber like you. If you find that too harsh then perhaps you should not have started on me from the outset. Please no more of your victim status either. Go and get a yourself testosterone patch or whatever it comes in.

      • JackSprat says:

Be nice if you used the generally accepted definition of facts rather than your own twisted version of them.

By the way, I would suggest you do a course in logic – you suck at it.

        • Dismayed says:

JS “be nice” Like calling people “dickhead” as you do? Logic? Perhaps you should check out “irony”. Oh my HAHAHAHA the prepper is getting agitated as he cant refute the facts.

  • Bella says:

Out of curiosity I did a litte research JTI & all I can say so far is no wonder we should “stop laughing” if this actually is Islam.

Quran (5.33) “The punishment of thse who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the and is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned, this shall be a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have grievous chastisement.”

Where is the love & forgiveness in that?
Free-thinking would be out I’d imagine.

“Such are the heights of wickedness to which men are driven by religion.” Lucretius
    Regards, Bella

    • Trivalve says:

Plenty of that stuff in the bible too Bella. Not too many people take it seriously fortunately. That’s where we need to get to with the other mob too.

    • Penny says:

Bella, agree it is a bit over the top. As we say we have no idea who wrote the Quran, but I’d say the guy that wrote that must have got out of the wrong side of the bed that morning. Then again I often wonder who came up with the term “Hellfire and Brimstone”.

Now if they’d left writing the of the Quran and the Bible to women it would be totally different. Might even have included a few recipes and weight loss tips. Much better for the soul.

      • Lou oTOD says:

Now now Penny, sexist rubbish there. Leave it to women? Recipes and weight loss tips? Totally contradictory.

P.s. I’m a bloody good cook for a bloke, next time you’re in town I’ll do you a quinoa walnut Greek feta salad to die for.

In my single youth, cooking was a sure fire way to get amourous with a female guest. It doesn’t seem to have translated in married life.

        • Penny. says:

Lou oTOD….good for you, my husband is the chief cook in this household…I’m the bottle washer.
However whenever I mention to other women here that I am not the person is charge of the cooking, they look at me in horror and their husbands are equally appalled. I think I’m letting the side down.
I think they all now comfort themselves by believing that Australian men must be a bit “sissy”

          • Lou oTOD says:

Yeah that’s a funny things about Asians in Asia Penny. They seem to ignore that the overhelming majority of chefs in restaurants, Kampongs, markets and street stalls are actually blokes.

Over here it might be a bit different. One of my all time favourites is Charmaine Soloman, and bugger me dead she turned up on Maeve O’Mara’s Food Safari on SBS last week. She must be in her eighties by now.

The only problem I ever had was the two Malaysians I shared house with. I cooked them a lovely Aussie leg roast, which they covered in dry shrimp chilli paste which made the food tasteless, and one went into a trance it was that hot.

Having said all that, if my cooking comes up with friends over dinner at a restaurant, the reaction from the blokes is a bit like your friends, cold stares and mumbles.

    • JackSprat says:

But but Bella – this is the religion of peace.

I note that Peace and Enlightenment is never used together in describing said religion.

    • Carl on the Coast says:

Careful what you say Bella or you’ll have our fellow poster Dismayed breathing down your neck (metaphorically of course). This is what he thinks about those who criticise Islam:

” “I expect they will now apologise for attacking every single member of a culture or religion.”

      Take care
      Carl

  • Carl on the Coast says:

    Jean Baptiste

    Re our various exchanges.

I note that a number of your recent responses to my genuinely held innocent comments seeking elucidation and clarification of some of your more problematic dissertations have been met with an underlying tone of discomfort and irritation.

But not in the same ball park as those presented by our fellow poster, Dismayed, I hasten to add. God forbid if that was so.

I write only for myself when I suggest that you should perhaps consider, and treat, any future enquiries I may have regarding your oft cryptic commentary as a compliment rather than a criticism.

I must also point out that your usual sign off message JB, has also been noticeably missing. I trust most my “heaps” have not been too difficult for you to surmount, although I have noticed you appear to have displayed signs of the wobblies on a number of occasions me old mate.

PS. I enjoy the pretty pics.

    • Jean Baptiste says:

I have made no problematic dissertations Carl. As an AGW denier, all the while you pretend not to be, you’ve been desperately flailing about trying to cast doubt of the indisputable observations of scientists.
Which is fair enough, I can think of no other way for you, you would be humiliated if you were to make overt attempt to dispute the science and findings , so you must pursue this hopeless losing strategy of muddying the waters.
I notice you never answer a question yourself, I’m still waiting for your opinion on whether the precise concert of the graphs depicting ocean temperatures, the concentration of C02 in the atmosphere and the burning of fossil fuels is but the most remarkable of coincidences?
I have no complaint, your interest is most pleasing, and don’t read anything negative into my signing off with “God Bless You” rather than “give ’em heaps.” I really do appreciate you old mate.

Wheres our bloody saviour when we really need him?

      • Mack the Knife says:

Maybe it’s the prelude to the second coming JB. I’ve been telling people since the late 90’s we are in the 7 years of tribulation but you know how the time scale is unreliable when using the Bible for reference, the planet was made in 6 days etc. Could be 7 years, 70, or 700 years of tribulation for all we know. Cheers.

      • Lou oTOD says:

Jesus my holiness, have I got time to finish my seriously slow cooked lamb, I’m talking twelve hours plus, before the cataclysmic tides wash up the hundred metres from Sydney Harbour and ruin the nice crust I’ve imparted?
