This week the question has been firmly put. Should there be more Nazis on television or less, or for the grammar pedants out there, fuhrer?
All right. That’s a really bad joke. The point is that so many people including journalists have got this horribly wrong.
Cotterill needs to be confronted, subjected to scrutiny and forensically cross-examined.
What to call him then? The media has cobbled together several terms, all of them fairly unhelpful, including activist, patriot and ultra-right wing extremist. On Channel 7 he was described as one member of a group who were planning to put “a neighbourhood watch group together”.
Let’s start with what he is. Mr Cottrell is a violent criminal, having been convicted of arson, stalking, aggravated burglary, trafficking in steroids and breaching interventions orders. He added racial vilification to his rap sheet earlier this year.
Full column here.
Did I hear correctly that Fraser Anning is sitting there having received just 19 votes!!! That is laughable – although the stuff spewing from his mouth is anything but.
And I thought we were sports mad. Fiji has introduced a $7 bank note to celebrate their Rugby 7’s success
Kinda nice

Am I there yet?
Depends on where you were going
you have been lost for years cotc. No Surprises.
The coalition trying to push through another bill through “the Telecommunications and Other Legislation Amendment (Assistance and Access) Bill 2018, designed to radically expand government powers to spy on Australians by forcing tech companies, whether in Australia or overseas, The bill makes clear that tech companies will be forced to “install, maintain, test or use software or equipment given to a provider by an agency” and “facilitate access to devices or services.” “That is, companies will be forced to help spy agencies plant malware in targeted phones or computers.” FN disgrace. No Surprises.
Like East Timor you mean? The Looters are good at spying.
umm dey wuz caught but
Loy Yang A coal fired generation plant dropped offline again last night. the coalition again wants to drag the Nation back to the 1800’s and spend $billions of taxpayer funds to further subsidised the already heavily subsidised Fossil fuel industry which as been subsidised through its entire supply chain since inception. FN disgrace and yet sheeple still support the most damaging government in the nations history. those supporting the coalition are failing the Nation. No surprises.
Comments not updating today mate. I’m sure it’ll come good.
You’d think these droughts come out of the blue. You hear nothing for ages and bam, all of a sudden the big dry is covered in camera people and politicians.
We hear huge Dust Storms may be on the way over Summer, Milton. By gingo by geez that Mr Baptiste may be on the money with Climate Change. Cheers
As you know, Henry droughts and dust storms and climate change are nothing new. Earth and its inhabitants have been and are on a magical mystery ride, like a candle in the wind, never knowing who to cling to when the rain set in. Man fools itself in thinking it knows what this planets climate should be now and into the future; and further deludes itself by imagining our little dot in the galaxy amounts to a hill of beans in the big scheme of things.
We have the brains, well some of us do, to know we have been sh*tting in our own nest. Relative to opportunity and environment you may just be the dumbest human on the planet!
The farmers have clearly been dealing with the severe drought for years without help & have now run out of options & it’s wonderful to see such a generous response from communities around the country.
I agree, Bella. A shame Turnbull was so tight fisted.
It’s always the way isn’t it? The nature of a drought is a slow creep but the media blitz does come out of nowhere. Southern NSW and the ACT are very dry though, it’s no bull story. Funny thing is, it’s a pretty good snow year, but it often is in times of drought. I’ve seen an explanation for that but it’s in the Alzheimer’s sector.
Cook, an astute and skilled cartographer, did not chart the mouth of the Burdekin River. AIMS has since established from coral core samples that 1770 was a very dry year. Links to rainfall datasets for NE Australia 1639 to Present – https://apps.aims.gov.au/metadata/view/425dac27-80ed-494d-9b3a-8ae4944a560e The coral drilled for the cores were Porites, the large clump corals that form the foundation of the reef.
The worst drought recorded in Paleoclimatology thus far was the Magna Carta drought in the 13th century. It lasted 37 years from 1267 to 1304. (Magna Carta was signed in 1215, so the name is misleading, but MC was the biggest historical event of the 13th century.) The dataset for the MC drought is restricted, but you can get it on application to AIMS, or it may be available from NOAA online.
The property I grew up on, west of Cunnamulla near Eulo, with other leases near Yowah, has been in drought for 2 years. My brother still lives there but de-stocked before feed ran out, and the property has been on the market since. The leases have less than 40 years (out of 100) remaining, so aren’t attractive. We’re in Bris for the Ekka this week and all the talk is drought. Returning to the west tomorrow for what will be my last look at the place I grew up. Neither dad nor my brother made much more than wages out of the place in 2 generations. They were tenant farmers, serfs really. I’m glad I took a different path.
Well it would be a bit embarrassing for the hectoring deniers wouldn’t it. They don’t seem to mention Tim Flannery these days.
Last time I heard of Tim ”tea leaves” Flannery he’d just bought himself a coastal pad, close to the water and not that high above sea level. Is he or you missing something, Jean? Or maybe both of you are? Quick, send him one of your ”specials” with coloured graphs and pics on permafrost.
We’ll all be well dead before the water level will be an issue. God, you come up with some pathetic recycled irrelevancies Milton.
Oh yeah, perhaps it depends upon your postcode JB. Or have you changed your tune me old mate?

Of course, many of the daily exchanges that occur within the National parliament are underpinned by gobbledygook.
QT turns my stomach everytime Carl. 😨
Tony Abbott knocked to the canvas again, Mr. Insider. Surely the “Ref” will call time for him soon as we read “Turnbull gains Coalition support on energy over Abbott’s objections”, linked.
How many times can Abbott be knocked flat on his back but still try for a “Main Bout” Fight?
Tony, old cock, you will be having Handbag fights with little old ladies at the Shopping Centres soon buddy, I think you are Punch Drunk!
