Humble servant of the Nation

Welcome to our world, New Zealand

We’ve always known it. We are miles ahead of the New Zealanders.

Last night in tortured reminiscence of our own political events post the 2010 election, NZ king/queen maker, Winston Peters announced he would support Labour and the Greens in loose coalition and allow Labour to form minority government. Thus Jacinda Ardern became NZ’s fourth prime minister in the last 18 years.

We have proven we can manage that feat in the space of about 18 months.

Bill Shorten got so excited he forgot how to spell or at least forgot how to spell the name of the freshly anointed political big wig of New Zealand, omitting the second ‘r’ from Ardern.

A correctly spelled missive was quickly dispatched but it did make me wonder. For the last 50 years the Americans have been having fun with our prime ministers’ names. From the simple misunderstanding over Malcolm Fraser’s preference for using his middle name as the more familiar to his first, all the way to our current PM who is known in Washington DC as Marlon Tumblington at last check.

I see T.bull has called the cops again into the Unions-Howard spent $62million on a failed union investigation. Then we had Abbott with his expensive courts cases into pink batts, Gillard, Shorten, CMFEU (remember the judge in that case attending a Looter fund raiser-talk about conflict of interest!) and now Unions again…all up $130million of taxpayers’ money to their lawyer mates and NOT ONE CONVICTION in all of these cases. This is what the Looters do when they have no policies, are staring defeat in the face and want to set up jobs for themselves after they get booted out!

M.Cash has been crowing because unemployement has dropped a tad…but the participation rate is down to buggery and those who have given up looking for work has skyrocketed.
I’d put one million jobs created during the GFC and after under Labor against anything the Liberals have achieved on this front. Get that ONE MILLION JOBS CREATED WHILST the GFC WAS ON and an unemployment rate of 4.9% and Abbott says ‘Labor wrecked the joint’.

Number of months unemployment rate was below 5.5% under each govt:-
Abbott / Turnbull 0 (No GFC to fight)
Rudd / Gillard 51 (Strong world economy)

    Unemployment rates now: Australia 5.5% US 4.4% UK 4.3% Japan 2.8% Germany 3.6% Canada 6.2% NZ 4.8% Mexico 3.5% Norway 4.2%

In 2010, Barnaby Joyce said Aust was in “imminent danger” of defaulting on debt. Debt was $150billion. It’s $506billion today under this mob. Yep:- A new record for government debt in Australia: $506.6 billion, up $233.4 billion since the Sep 2013 election. Easily the worst govt. this country has EVER seen….and getting worse!

Yup, Kevin’s back and he’s here to yelp. The man has no shame. Like Keating he has an arsehole on everything and thrives on being in the media.
I’d guess, with Turnbull taking a few hits on the NBN, the last thing Shorten wants soaking up the oxygen is the ‘billions on the back of the coaster’ Kev.

    • Dismayed says:

Milton after all this time and your man abbotts edict to turnbull to “wreck the NBN” you still put up ridiculous comments. Your coalition wrecked what would have been the most significant productivity enhancing economic driving infrastructure this Nation had seen to date. The coalition and its supporters are deliberately stopping Australia from competing with the rest of the world for what? ideology and politics. No surprises. You should hang your head in shame and apologise to any children you have for limiting their opportunities.

  • Penny says:

Getting back on topic somewhat. While we may all have a bit of a dig at the fact that NZ has a 37 year old woman at the helm (I am quite impressed with what I see so far) I find that PHON’s proposed domestic violence strategy is getting a fair bit of attention.
I find it a little disturbing that we think we can give gratuitous advice to the new PM about how to run New Zealand and yet we give free rein to Pauline Hanson to put forth her vile views about domestic violence victims and disadvantaged people on welfare. What are all our fine politicians doing about this? Nothing at all.
The media plays along with Pauline and give her every opportunity to push herself forward. When Australia grows up and deals with these divisive people then maybe we can give out advice that might be appreciated. Until then let’s leave the new PM alone and clean up our own backyard.

    Yes!
    .
And I also want to know more about “f..k the frogs, just grown cotton” Mr. Joyce.

    • Bella says:

Wow wraith, I had assumed that Barnaby Joyce tried to shut down any & all investigation into the alleged criminal activities on this farm.
Great to see this new development for all the dry towns and farmland owners that these selfish water thieves have cheated out of a decent living. Bring on the prosecutions & remove those dams.

He is so compromised I don’t know how he can still be in Cabinet.

  • wraith says:

I may have lost a post, if so. Vale George Young. Such a talent and a contribution, we would have been less as a country without.

  • Carl on the Coast says:

Yes, the most conspicuous foreign policy call of the moment is the line doing the rounds in the UK government re the fate of the 100’s of captured British jihadist volunteers in Syria. No ‘welcome home’ appearances, no court appeals, no stripping of citizenship. Just kill them. In short, no ifs or buts.

Wouldn’t be too much discordance with such a policy amongst the good citizens of the Old Dart I’d imagine.

    • John O'Hagan says:

This from someone making slippery-slope arguments about homocide just the other day!

    • Jean Baptiste says:

Yes. Kill them all, that should bring an end to terrorist attacks in Great Britain. To paraphrase, “killing for peace is like f********g for virginity.”

  • JackSprat says:

I see Kev has come out in favour of state sponsored torture.

Cassie Sainsbury has been back in the news, and it got me thinking about some of the media coverage of Australians in detention overseas. Now I am sure that Kerobokan in Bali or El Buen Pastor in Colombia are not a barrel of laughs. But neither are they North Korea. They are regularly described as ‘living hell’ or variations on that theme in the Australian media. Yet Australians in these prisons can be interviewed by the media, make mobile phone calls and attend beauty pageants. Try that with Australian correctional authorities and wait for the reaction.

  • Boadicea says:

I really hope that what I’m reading about pharmacists being asked to prepare customised lethal doses for assisted voluntary euthanasia is indeed ”fake news”.
    An impossible ask of anyone.
There is an over- the- counter drug that works. Nembutal. Used by vets on animals every day.

    • Dwight says:

Not approved for humans here. Not Seconal either.

      • Boadicea says:

Yeah realise that Dwight. But it could he legalised presumably . Otherwise, as you say, pop over to Mexico and buy some!

      • JackSprat says:

If you use it it will kil you .

        • Boadicea says:

Yep. That’s the point, JS. Bury it in the backyard for a rainy day if the necessity arises – and I emphasise the “if”. Hopefully will not be needed. But I have no intention of outstanding my use-by date. That’s just me!

    • JackSprat says:

Not that easy Boa – very strictly controlled for that reason.

Apparently it can be purchased on-line from China with rather dubious quality.

One can get it over the counter in Mexico.
