Will the last one out of the parliament please remember to turn the pie warmer off at Aussie’s Cafe? The worst thing we can have now is a fire. Although I accept some cynics believe putting the parliament to the cleansing flames might just be our last best shot at good government.
Ten senators have moved along since this parliament commenced, most frogmarched ignominiously from the big red room, told to pack their belongings into two small cardboard boxes, before their parliamentary lanyards were twain in two with a cutlass and escorted to the front door by two burly security guards.
We no longer have a Deputy Prime Minister, or at least we won’t for a month or so. The Senate President, Stephen Parry resigned and shuffled out the door yesterday. And now, the Energy Minister, Josh Frydenberg is under a cloud.
This brings about the delicious prospect of wait staff at the parliament sidling up to the Minister for Resources, Energy and Northern Australia with a plate of party pies.
“Hungry, minister?”
“No thanks. I already am one.”
Boom tish.

My any two nearly got there! 2nd and fourth 😏
Loveable, full and frank as always, Mr Insider, as we read POTUS Trump has offered some startlingly candid remarks at an official banquet in Japan, sharing with a room full of dignitaries his initial inexperience as a newly elected leader, and confiding that he had been unaware how many countries there were in the world. Indeed, wait till he comes down our way and discovers Tasmania! Not sure who the President of Tasmania is perhaps Boadicea may inform your humble correspondent and I shall pass it on to the White House . Strewth

I think it’s a guy called David Walsh, HB. Come to think of it he would probably be a good POTUS.
Thank you Boadicea, your “Apple Isle” is a true delight, your humble correspondent having made quite a number of trips there. Curse you Wrest Point for “lightening” my load for the return trips home. Cheers. P.S. Jackie Lambie a possible Dual Citizen too mmmmm
Sutherland Springs and all the others. Only two types of states have these sort of events so frequently – the United States and failed states. There are no others.
Watch Q&A for about 5 minutes last night .They had a bunch of kids on giving their views.
One caught my attention re the current citizenship debacle.
She claimed that she she was being discriminated against because if she had to go into parliament she would have to give this up. “In an increasing multi-cultural society, this should not happen”.
Reason why she liked her dual nationality was she could world overseas.
Couple of questions sprung to my mind.
It affects a huge proportion of the population – not just her ethnic group – but that did not occur to her.
The people being discriminated against with the dual passports issue are the ones who cannot get them and she enjoys an enormous privilege over many people.
As the majority who set up this environment and attempts valiantly to maintain it in a unbiased manner despite being pilloried from all directions is slowly reduced to just another ethic group, is the future just a bunch of squabbling “I was robbed groups”?
Work overseas

Have been meaning to post some support for my claim overpopulation will kill us before anything else gets a chance. I don’t like simply posting links. But I’ll post a few links.
The original UN analysis 2015, also backlinks to reports to 2010

Ahhhmmm. Well, on the strength of my racing tips, looks like the asteroid will do us in.
I say Wissendorf, I’ve just had a squiz at the links you put up and its interesting to note that the United Nation’s ‘world population prospects’ data makes growth estimates out to the year 2100, but there’s not a single mention, reference, caveat, proviso, etc in the reports to the possible impact the UN’s IPCC data on the likely effects global warming (if not contained) may have on the world’s population.
Our resident authority on global warming, me old mate JB, has often exhorted on here that no matter what action is taken on CO2 emissions its already too late and it’ll be all-over-red-rover within the next decade. Good night, lights out!
It makes a chap wonder which horse to back in view of the UN’s positive population growth estimates, the oft negative advice from the IPCC, or JB’s constant doom and gloom scenarios.
Perhaps I should take a boxed trifecta, eh?
Well no. Overpopulation in and of itself in terms of potential food will result in a limit to the growth of human numbers and possibly a considerable drop in population. That is not human extinction. Obviously the planet can support at least nine billion people and all the other life forms on it, and it would continue to do so, except that AGW it appears will almost certainly cause the next great extinction.

You can plausibly argue that extinction will come about from an overpopulation of humans burning too much fossil fuel if you like. Ergo, AGW will cause extinction.
This is interesting JB.

One point of view is that Turnbull should not take his kayak onto the water before Xmas, for fear of sharks/rays/crocs/squid/pterodactyls.
OTOH though, doing a Holt could be most opportune.
Oh no – surely not John Alexander! He’s such a nice guy – not a bad tennis player either 🙁
News this morning that Robert Mugabe has sacked the Vice-president and is manoeuvring his wife Grace into the position of his successor.
He must be feeling he is going to drop off the perch soon.
Grace is one fierce lady. She has been known to physically assault those who displease her.
There is uncertainty as to whether the military support her though.
Poor Zimbabwe. Their future looks bleak.
Is Mugabe married to Grace Jones?
No Wiss. Although she is a lot younger than Mugabes. Quite a handsome woman really – but she wants POWER!
Given how strange this year has been, 33/1 on the Melbourne Cup going to Scotland doesn’t seem unreasonable.
Johannes Vermeer for me.
But I’m not good at tipping. I have been at Flemington and had bets on 12 different horses in the cup – and not one of them came in!!!!
Bit discouraging……
We nearly got there Boa…….
Yep 🙁
didn’t know their backs were that good. wow
going with the dutch painter and wall of fire msyelf
