Humble servant of the Nation

What you see is what you get with Trump

Regardless of what you think about Donald Trump he does exactly what it says on his tin.

That’s not to say what is in the tin is especially nourishing. Personally I would not like to be sitting down for a steaming bowl of Trump every day for the next four years. The Americans voted him in and it’s their lot now.

But what is surprising is how surprised the US media is whenever Trump makes a policy announcement.

First we had the immigration bans. The US media went into a profound almost anaphylactic shock over that one. Trump had promised it and he made good on his pledge.

Since Trump concluded his European tour WaPo, The NY Times, Politico, the New Yorker and The Atlantic among many others have reported almost breathlessly in musings of the “will he, won’t he?” type regarding the Paris Accord.

So Im listening to the Iman, and the man says, the boys are not fitting in, vulnerable because they dont have a place, they feel like outsiders, maybe they are angry , so they are easily groomed by people into doing these crimes. What I hear is, t hat the blame lies with western society for not making these people feel like part of it all.
Can I ask the Iman man the question, maybe someone will bounce it on, …….”what about the people killed in places like Pakistan or Afghanistan. Maybe just after sunset in Ramadan, eating icecream. How do they feel socially isolated by those people?”
When (or if) they answer that question you can move on to. How is it ever okay to kill little girls dancing just because you dont fit in? There is always an element of the religion and the grooming. Always.

Nothing to do with the parents who chose to live in an enclave and send their kids to a mono-cultural school.
Has to be somebody else’s fault!
One of the saner Iman’s said it was due to unfettered multiculturalism and I think he is right as that leads to the above..
It has been recognized for a long time that if the migrant parents cling to their old culture and not make an attempt to assimilate, their kids grow up not knowing which camp they belong to.
If the UK is to be taken as an example, where there is a high concentration the calls for Sharia law grow louder – in other words the “leaders” are clinging to the old ways and setting that example to the young.

The parents have just had the NBN installed, at 84 and 83 they’re not super savvy but they give the iPad a good work out.
What do you know, NBN and modem installed, phone line…….stuffed, have to wait for Telstra, hope Telstra is aware of how old they are knowing how long they take to fix things!
Also stuffed (it probably came out in sympathy) dads 16 year old Nokia, he’s bought a new mobile and he’s promised he’ll learn how to text……..bless him.

June 6th a date to remember.

    • Henry Blofeld says:

“Lest We Forget” Huger Unson as we remember “D” Day, June 6th 1944.

    • JackSprat says:

      An incredible feat of planning.
But one must remember the cost.

In April and May 1944, the Allied air forces lost nearly 12,000 men and over 2,000 aircraft in operations which paved the way for D-Day.

Over 425,000 Allied and German troops were killed, wounded or went missing during the Battle of Normandy. This figure includes over 209,000 Allied casualties, with nearly 37,000 dead amongst the ground forces and a further 16,714 deaths amongst the Allied air forces. Of the Allied casualties, 83,045 were from 21st Army Group (British, Canadian and Polish ground forces), 125,847 from the US ground forces. The losses of the German forces during the Battle of Normandy can only be estimated. Roughly 200,000 German troops were killed or wounded. The Allies also captured 200,000 prisoners of war (not included in the 425,000 total, above). During the fighting around the Falaise Pocket (August 1944) alone, the Germans suffered losses of around 90,000, including prisoners. During the battle, between 15,000 and 20,000 French civilians were killed, mainly as a result of Allied bombing. Thousands more fled their homes to escape the fighting.

That was in 4 or so weeks.

  • The Bow-Legged Swantoon says:

I’m not normally a fan of mob rule but perhaps if every time someone on parole or on bail commits a crime of violence, the media could do us a public service by publishing the names, addresses, telephone numbers and photographs of the relevant parole board members or magistrate. The citizenry could then do with that information what they wished.

Maybe that would focus the minds of the parole boards and judiciary a little better than their current capacity to work more or less anonymously and with impunity. It might also discourage people from applying for those jobs who might have a more so-called “progressive” bent.

    • JackSprat says:

Why stop at the parole board?
If you really want to get upset read some of the current legal thinking on the dispensation of law in their idea of a multi-cultural society.

    • Carl on the Coast says:

I agree, sustained doses of media ochlocracy is definitely needed in such circumstances, TBLS

      • The Bow-Legged Swantoon says:

        Good word! I like it!

        • Penny says:

I don’t. I think it’s mob rule at it’s worst. Do you honestly think that every parole officer can read the mind of criminals? That the legal system wants people to reoffend? Come on, that is one of the worst suggestions I’ve ever read on this blog. Why don’t we publish the name and address of every person who works for Centrelink, that has been forced to carry out the dumb policies of the Federal Government? Publish the name and address of all the people who work for the ABC because they are supposedly left-wing. Or we could publish the names and addresses of all those who comment on this blog if they don’t agree with what you are saying.
Why don’t we dob in all our neighbours for acting suspiciously.
Thankfully since I’ve been back here in Australia I haven’t come across anybody who thinks like that. Maybe I’ve been lucky but I sure hope not.

          • Lou oTOD says:

The goons will be coming around to have a chat with you very soon Penny.

  • Razor says:

This cannot be right surely! Didn’t one if our erstwhile bloggers ridicule the project for years vehemently stating it would never get off the ground.

Will he apologise for the vitriol and name calling when I assured him it would go ahead?

    • Lou oTOD says:

I suspect a resounding echo of silence Razor.

Then there’s the paid noise of ACF, with Geoffrey Cousins out front, and USA left lobbyists in the funding background, GetUp et al. The campaign against this project has been without precedent for its vitriol and downright misinformation campaign. I suspect they agitators aren’t done with just yet, chained humans on trees most likely.

The ecological impact of Australian clean coal versus Indian local dirty coal or cow dung seems to have no consequence in ideological warfare.

      • Dismayed says:

HAHAHAHA “clean coal” talk about an oxymoron. Just like a clever con. oh my HAHA get of the grass the cerebral hypoxia has highlighted your paranoia.

      • Dismayed says:

You along with the others have NOT been paying attention . India have stated and it is part of the National policy that it will cease coal imports by 2021. Got any bright ideas to blow a couple of $$ Billion$$. I am sure the Nationals would like to hear from you. Oh my HAHAHAHA so out of touch.

      • Jean Baptiste says:

        Yairs, really resounding Lou.

    • Dismayed says:

Where’s the money? Who is funding it? The only fools prepared to fund it are the Coalition government and idiots like you. Seriously you need help. You have become even more absurd than previously. The Adani concept is a scam. 1400 jobs at for $billions of $$’s outlay for inferior coal that will send coal prices crashing further due to and even greater over supply? this is the epitome of a stranded asset. You are delusional. Where is the FUNDING?

      • Razor says:

        1. Best and cleanest coal on the planet old son!

        2. I see you are going with the state v state stuff. Do you really understand exactly how juvenile that is?

        3. Refer to my previous re your ridiculous assertion of Adani dropping the price of coal. Do you know how markets and supply chains work?

        4. You all need to source your info from sites other than Getup and the usual rentseekers who are profiting from destroying the futures of young regional Queenslanders.

        5. Dismal will you apologise when the first load of beautiful black thermal coal is trained out?

        5. Bella you of all people should know better. You actually live here and are watching what is going on. The reef is fine. Nothing has changed except a few doomsayers have learnt a way to make some money out of it without having to go into the tourism business.

        • Bella says:

I do know the Once Great Barrier Reef is not at all ‘fine’ Razor as The Australian wants you to believe. Try listening to the science for once.
          http://www.sciencealert.com/heartbroken-scientists-admit-the-great-barrier-reef-is-now-terminal

Despite the fanfare Adani is not a done deal thank God. The project is a very long way from legal clearance or financial closure & civil resistance is exceeding all expectations.

You say I “should know better”?
          Please stop. Please.
If the day ever comes when I use the term “beautiful lack thermal coal” don’t reply.
I’ll have shot myself in contempt.
          Bella, #GalileeBlockade
          #StopAdani
          Cheers

        • Dismayed says:

Where to start your delusions are innumerable. The Carmichael coal is inferior to coal being produced in QLD and NSW today. It would require “scrubbing” to be clean enough to be used in the Indian power generation plants. It is simply supply and demand if you add to an already oversupplied market the demand price will drop.
So you can understand if you have 10 pigs this year and you only had 5 last year you will get less per pig.
This is a state issue because the whole scam is being promoted due to the seats in question which phony are polling strongly in. This is a political decision nothing more nothing less. It is only the sheep of the flock of the broads church that want this scam to go ahead to save a handful of federal seats.
The only apology I will make is to your children’s children and tell them that people like you put their own self interest ahead of the rest of humanity.

    • Bella says:

It’s not right Razor, it’s more like a mirage.
Adani are struggling with massive debt but hell-bent on getting this mine up at the expense of our climate our groundwater our environment & our public purse.
There’s many many legal challenges ahead, not to mention the small matter of finance. Fourteen foreign banks along with our four won’t approve it & the Indian Govt won’t touch an Adani project with no less than five ongoing criminal investigations into corruption & tax evasion.

If this scam was in any way financially viable why do they ask for a billion $$ upfront? Free water ripped off the farmers? To cook what’s left of the Reef? Destroy tens of thousands of tourism jobs?

Who the hell knows why we’ve broken all the rules for them but it stinks of corruption & pay-offs however you look at it.
Selling out Australians should be illegal & the politicians involved in or aligned with this farce should face a RC into every aspect of this pandering deal.

The lie of ‘thousands of jobs’ is just spin from deceitful politicians.
      Regards, Bella

      • Dismayed says:

Spot on Bella Adani would not have made the announcement without guaranteed funding from the idiots in the coalition but how could that be when the Northern Australia Infrastructure fund is supposed to be independent of the government??? Corruption from the coalition ? who’d have thought it? No bank wants to touch it. This is all about a couple of seats in Qld that phony may pick up. Absolute disgrace.

    • Dismayed says:

Get someone who has some comprehension ability to explain this to you. JS may have a 5 year old close by that can explain it to you.

Hey, enough of the regressive Qld spiel mate, not all of us in this beautiful state want a filfthy megamine on our coast.
Unfortunately our current Labor government are proving o be a bunch of dirty sell-outs & just as corrupt as Federal & State Libs have always been.
        Regards, Bella

        • Razor says:

Bella the Carmichael mine is at least a 6 to 7 hour drive from the Coast but don’t let the Getup speaking points get in the way of the truth.

          • Bella says:

I meant the the potential damage to the Reef from the terminal but you knew that.
Have they attempted to rehabilitate the environmental disaster in the wetlands yet? No because they either lack the capacity to do so or they just don’t care.
            I say the latter.

          • Dismayed says:

Wow. The proposed rail line will take more coal to abbott point terminal. Geez. Do you even understand the proposed project you blindly support? You may recall the recent flooding at abbott point that resulted in release of sediment 8 times above already reduced allowable levels.

        • Trabvitch says:

Queensland must have suffered some spectacular erosion lately for the proposed Carmichael Mine to be on the coast…

        • Dismayed says:

Bella when the people of Qld stop voting the likes of canavan, brandis, dutton etc etc into seats I may reconsider my views. I agree the Qld state government have made bad decisions on this.

    • Dismayed says:

In Qld no less ” the rampant profiteering of its own fossil fuel generators that have been solely responsible for the unprecedented surge in electricity prices over the last two years.” Oh the humanity. I doubt you have ever heard of humility.

I guess you missed every other article on the Adani scam apart from the one that reinforced your bias. Oh look there is another option to the rail line at half the price by a company already operating? One would have a thought even a con would prefer the less expensive option? Geeeez them Qld’ers are s l o w o n t h e u p t a k e . Well some of them anyway eh?

Mr Insider, I applaud the Police and Security Services for the difficult and dangerous work they have to do re preventing Terrorism in Australia in light of the attack last night in Melbourne where Police shot dead a Terrorist who came out firing at them, some Police injured but not badly. Time to get tougher imho this has gone too far and is too frequent Worldwide. UK PM May has said this too only yesterday.
