Another year, another polly on the ropes over expense claims. Sussan Ley has been on the receiving end of a media pommeling and the collective wisdom is she’s been a naughty minister. She has been dispatched to Coventry and the view is she should settle down and grow accustomed to her new home.
As an observer of various entitlements farragoes over the years, I think Ms Leys’ spending puts her in exalted company, somewhere between Peter Slipper and the guv’nor, Labor’s Mal Colston. Spending $21,000 in a week or so on transport is extraordinary. I didn’t even think it was possible. With those frequent flyer miles, you can forget about the carrot sticks and chardy in the Qantas club. It’s foot-long lobster subs and Moët by the schooner. Hell, they’ll get you your own plane. Maybe even let you fly it.
The Minchin Protocol always sounded like a bad novel and now as it comes to its denouement, it is about as satisfying as an EH Holden Mechanics’ manual or anything knocked out by Clementine Ford.
Full column here.
Did Ms Ley have pre-approved finance or any contact with the agent before she left?
Really easy questions Ms Ley could answer to clear this all up.
Alas it now seems she knew the vendor when he made a $50,000 donation to the Libs in 2010 and subsequently received a $100,000+ business grant.

What a tangled web we weave………
I think she’s gone Bella.
the presidential election is a gift that keeps on giving.
the trump is an anti-semite argument grabbed my attention. a man whose daughter, son-in-law and some of his grandkids are jewish, who supports israel, and who makes his homes in NYC and Florida.
He is anti-gay. he welcomes gays to his club in Florida, and he decorates like Liberace on coke.
he is a terrible to women. got a bit more substance to that, but where does he rank with, Jack, Bobby or Teddy Kennedy, Bill Clinton, and countless others in politics, movies, sport, and business.
this will get better and better
about the politicians expenses.
this is not at all a partisan issue, if you think it is, go back and read the article, then maybe you can stop the insane barracking.
paying a daily rate fixed for each city for a travel allowance is the best and fairest method.
politicians and public servants can pay more or less than the rate and save or spend as they wish. the alternative, as they have in the UK, is paying the actual cost of staying away from the principal residence. this has been a disaster and led to many more rorts.
Just a few things that have happened, or potentially happened to ordinary people over the past few days makes me realise what a vile thing a good part of mankind actually is. This is in addition to our pollies taking advantage of us, which sickens me.
Firstly, we have the almost cancellation of ANZAC Day marches in the Blue Mountains. Whether this is the Blue Mountains Council (with Councils generally being made up of the lowest form of wannabe politicians) playing games, or an issue with the State Government imposing extra conditions and not being prepared to stump up for the impositions I don’t know, but we have a lot of scum, well, just being scum.
Secondly Tiger Air. It almost looks as though this is a case of the Indos being their difficult selves. MAybe Virgin?Tiger Air didn’t stuff enough brown paper bags. Who knows. I would have thought that Virgin/Tiger Air would have done their best to keep the operation going – it naturally is in their commercial interests. I note a lot of posters in East Berlin having a go at the airlines and Bali, but I would think it is not the fault of those parties! There appears to be some ignorant swill on the other side.
Our Liz actually wrote something sensible the other day. It was concerning plans to fence Darling Harbour because over the last many years two people have drowned. One was a drunk Irishman who couldn’t swim and who fell in at Vivid, and the other was a guy who got caught up in a fight and fell in. Let us fence in all rivers, creeks, waterways etc. Actually let’s fence around Australia. This will have the added bonus of stopping oats. Sorry “boats”, because (Wild) Oats stopped itself. I live near Darling Harbour, and one of the charms is being unfenced – when fences are put in for special events it really destroys the atmosphere.
And finally, something a bit different. The Oz online published a story about a spat between Channel 9 newsreaders about what was being worn. Isn’t this more the purview of the Daily Bogangraph or the Pyrmont Pravda? Is the Australian now descending to these sort of depths?
The ”other side” is scarcely worth bothering with these days Trab.
More gender craziness. Stop the ride I want to get off.

My very sporting teenager would be very happy if she had the option to wear shorts in summer or pants in winter rather than stockings and woollen dress etc. I don’t see any reason why People cannot decide for themselves what they are most comfortable in.
Please don’t tell me you send your kids to those terrible private schools!
it wouldn’t really be a uniform if you could wear whatever you wanted would it?
if you don’t like it get yourself on the school board and try to change it, better than whingeing about it.
Actually at the Primary school we did. But then as always greedy people wanted their families companies to supply so luckily ours moved into High School and we moved on just at the right time. Firstly I don’t have the connections did not attend the school and don’t donate nearly enough to get on the board. I have however had a couple of discussion with people who are supportive but also do not have the right connections to make the change. or the will to take on the old guard. Thankfully we don’t have long to go.
Oh and by the way I am not talking about wearing whatever you like. Man you are so far off the pace you are going backwards. Nothing better to do then come in and snipe today?
I thought private schools were bad?
Can’t say I was traumatised by wearing a school uniform.
Some women have too much spare time on their hands MtK.
It’s a silly over the top whine about nothing much.
We’re all being scammed & no-ones doing a thing about it.
http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2017/01/09/ministers-bill-taxpayers-attend-pms-private-new-years-eve-function
22 Ministers attended Turnbulls 2015 NYE party. 18 paid their own way but 4, namely Dutton, Brandis, Fifield & Birmo claimed $7000 travel expenses on our tab. Official business it just ain’t.
If you’re not outraged then you’re not paying attention.
Careful Bella. The rorting is bipartisan. Why do you think Labor are so quiet?
What do you mean “careful” Razor?
When it comes to travel rorts I believe I’ve said BOTH sides in a recent post. Nobody in politics today is excluded from gaming the system.
You mentioned only one side. I must have missed your earlier post. My apologies.
Are you threatening lady Bella Razor? Geez.
Wit is not your forte’. Genetically you only can come half armed. Accept it and go back to cut and paste.
Ta for that Dismayed you are a gentleman in my book (no matter how tall you are) hahaha
Regards, Bella
Here it is Mr Insider hot off the presses the Australia Day ad we all love and this year titled “Your Never Lamb Alone” and what a Multicultural ad it is too. God bless Australia and all who ail in her! P.S. I did like the Richie Benaud one from 2015 so popped that one underneath the 2017 one

On reflection I am a bit of a “gurly man” Trevor. Thank you for pointing that out to me. How can I reward you for your frankness and honesty. Oh, I know!

Oopsie. That ones a bit dated. Carl wont be pleased with that.

You are an ok guy Baptise, delusional and politics drive. You would oppose motherhood if it was a child of the right. Your lover Coast the same only he would oppose motherhood if it was an invention of the left. Hence we cant take any notice of what you both say on climate change.
Trevor Snott 11:23 AM
Quite so Trevor. To be more exact I struggled to find any science in Milton’s link! Jesus wept! The blokes supposed to be a lawyer, he should be able to conjure bull**** better than that.
And again you are quite right. I would be stuffed without Google. Let us both rejoice that I have Google.

I may have mentioned this before. “Shetland” on Netflix is really worth a look.
“Vikings” is a bit on the romantic side. They all probably looked a bit grubby and scabrous.
http://sciencenordic.com/dna-study-vikings-were-plagued-intestinal-parasites
Apparently the little nasties could exit any orifice and even come out of the corner of an eye. Bit disconcerting.
Rollo and Ragnor were from different eras btw.
Agree re Shetland. It’s based on a book series too. Seems that the windswept isles are a hotbed of murder to challenge the bloodthirsty township of Midsomer.
Any sex in Shetland JB? Or we’re just horsing around? (That’s a a dad joke Eddie)
I’ll have a look at Shetland – ta. Was actually thinking of doing a trip to the Shetlands for the very purpose of checking out ancient sites. Looks beautiful and worth a visit to do some walking over there. My family are from Northern England – who knows I may have some Viking genes. I’ve thought it may be interesting to do that Ancestry.com DNA thingo, but not sure what I would do with the results. I mean who cares really?
I saw that doco about the parasites. Rather gruesome.
I’ll check out Ragnor and Rollo. I thought W ikipaedia had told me they were in fact brothers. I love English and French history. Fascinating.
