Humble servant of the Nation

The simple fact overlooked in Serena Williams fallout

It’s a tricky move to attach gender or race motives to an umpire officiating a tennis match between two women: one Afro-American, the other half-Japanese, half-Haitian but one by one, too many members of the commentariat to count worked overtime to pull it off.

In the morass of Op-Eds scrawled in the wake of the US women’s Open final, focus quickly became lost and one rather simple fact was ignored:

The umpire is always right.

Take this tweet from ABC presenter, Virginia Trioli. She claimed to have read almost all there was to read about what had happened and only then had been moved to judgment by way of retweet with comment. The retweet was of a judgy columnist, Margaret Sullivan, who splatters words around for the Washington Post and the New York Times, sometimes in some recognisable order. She, in turn, was tweeting up a rapidly cobbled together think piece from Sally Jenkins at WaPo. Jenkins, Sullivan enthused, got it “exactly right.”

The Serial Pest and stinky Cupboard Boy, Julian Assange is eyeing a “move” to Russia, Mr. Insider.
How the goose thinks he will get out of the Ecuadorian Embassy and get past the British Plod waiting for him outside the door is beyond me.
Boot the lazy bastard up the arse and out the door I say Mr Ambassador!

I wonder if Palmer has spiked the water supply of Townsville with some sort of halucinogen?
Or are the memories of Townsvillers that severely lacking?
How can they lower themselves to accept lavish gifts for the local footy club when the town was virtually flattened and hundreds left without entitlements when Qld Nickel collapsed and the government had to fork out millions to keep food on their tables?
Hard to believe he hasn’t been told to get the hell out of town.
They should be marching down the streets in protest.

Thanks for coming ladies but we “he-men” will do the job. Seems to be what Scott Morrisons Liberal Party is saying to women, Mr. Insider.
The Federal Liberal Party the Party of the distant past methinks.

the conservative coalition government have announced a new slave labour visa for farmers to bring in more slave labour that will have less regulation than the seasonal worker slave labour visa program which has been proven to be rorted by every region that uses it. This after news today over 818,000 people migrated to Australia in the last 12 months a Record number. Meanwhile the conservative coalition will dog whistle and ramp up the rhetoric, divisive lies, racist bigotry and fear mongering about a very small number of people legally seeking asylum compared to the numbers the conservative coalition are cramming into the Nation and be supported by the ignorant cons and phony arseholes every step of the way. Meanwhile there are 1.8 million Australians of working age who want more work and in over 715,000 cases a job would be a blessing. Before the cons start, the governments own data says 0.6% of people who are long term unemployed most of whom have health related problems will probably always be unemployed. This government is a disgrace. No Surprises.

If they ease up on importing people, the economy and real estate goes down in a screaming heap Dismayed. Then finally the plebs will wake up to what has been going on.

      • Carl on the Coast says:

So, you’re sinking the boot into immigrants nowadays JB? You do surprise me old mate.

        • Jean Baptiste says:

How so? Without wanting to sound unkind Carl, have you ever seriously contemplated the possibility that you may be barking mad?

      • JackSprat says:

Yep – this economy is dependent on high immigration, building over priced houses and selling over priced houses.
Try Spain as a model as what is going to happen.

So for Pastor Morrison & Co it’s business as usual, only worse.
Whilst everyday citizens fastidiously do their bit for our environment these bought-off coal puppets are literally moving heaven & earth to destroy it. They have to be history.
I actually hope their grandchildren never forgive them.

Just back from listening to a chat with Richard de Crespigny, the pilot of A380 Nancy-Bird Walton, QF32 . What an impressive character. He’s written a book (Fly!) wrapping leadership and resilience around the event. Great money-spinner but I get the impression that it will be no bullshit and worth the read.

What this country needs, Mr. Insider is a bloody good laugh imho.
Here to start the ball rolling are the late greats Peter Cook and Dudley more in 1964 in a skit called “One Leg Too Few”.

just saw a headline touting John Kerry for 2020 and I thought, well W was pretty damn fortunate to get Al Gore and then Kerry, but Trump will be even luckier.

    • Jack The Insider says:

I think the Dem candidate most likely to win will be white, male and old. Not saying Kerry would be although he fits the demographic type. Think Joe Biden although not quite as old as Joe. Centrist, pro gun, socially conservative.

  • Boadicea says:

Our very own version of Trump.
Surely to goodness, after everything he’s put this country through after his last foray, Clive Palmer and his party cannot win a seat in parliament?
Locating in Townsville too. Will Mensink be running his campaign office ? – plenty of vacant office space over at Qld Nickel.
