Denis Ryan has had a busy time of it. On the 86-year-old former cop’s call list this morning was the Washington Post, the BBC and a courtesy call from the Victorian Premier, Dan Andrews.
The cop who tried to prosecute one of the most prolific paedophile priests in our history 46 years ago and came off second best received a compensation payment from the Andrews government yesterday. The undisclosed amount is one Ryan is satisfied with.
There have been a few backslappers step forward in the last 24 hours. In a tweet yesterday, senator Derryn Hinch described Ryan as “one of the bravest, moral men I have ever known.” Hinch might know of Ryan but he’s never met him.

Ah love airport security in Australia, a guy misses his Jetstar flight in Melbourne and rages across the tarmac to try and rip the door open on another plane.
Maybe they could fit a safety harness on the outside of the door for late arriving passengers. God help us, and we are argueing about passengers providing id at the gates? Maybe a brain scanner might help also.
But what is really funny, he was going to Adelaide and he was trying to rip the door off the Sydney flight
Gee Jack, by now you must be looking at us like those three times twice removed members of the family who you never invite to the reunion but always show up. *laugh*
Actually, I am more than curious with the spam coming in at the moment. Most of it relates to a drug I dare not name for fear of spam but it is a drug I am taking. I doubt that I have mentioned it here so I have no idea how that spam continues to roll in or why. As for you guys, you’re never a problem.
A lovely little Division 3 win in tonight’s Powerball for your humble correspondent Mr Insider, small but the biggest I have ever won on the Lotteries. Let’s hope I don’t blow it on the neddies on Saturday. Cheers P.S. what odds do we have of Prince Harry doing a “runner” before the big event, the Brides Family seem a bit “wonky”!
Well, JTI, I can’t think of anything to add other than it is wonderful to have you back.
Gone viral. Mr Insider, do you hear “Yanny” or “Laurel”?

You see Canberra’s latest thought bubble? Have a referendum to amend the Constitution because some pollies can’t figure out their paperwork. Sheesh.
Mr Trumble has now ruled that out Dwight. Cheers
Told ya this would happen.

TV or Dismayed,
Is the below story just because some states have banned further gas exploration or is there a further reason to this? It seems ludicrous when we have plenty of gas!
(Not pulling your leg Dismayed. I know you are in the business and I am genuinely interested)
https://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/mining-energy/west-australian-lng-exporters-bid-to-supply-agl-east-coast-terminal/news-story/ea89571e1f95f719b0cd2c307056a3fc
The reason gas prices are so high and as a consequence electricity prices on the eastern seaboard is the Gas cartel lied about how much gas they had when seeking to build the 3 gas plants at Gladstone. So they now need more gas to meet contracts. NSW and Victoria stopped unconventional exploration ( which require fracking both by Liberal Governments ) NT have just lifted their onshore “ban” but it will take several years to get to production stage. But they have the INPEX gas plant coming online and have enough at this stage. the Gas cartels have been allowed to “game” the third party gas market on the east coast to force up prices for local Generation. If the Federal Government stopped pandering to the Gas Cartel prices would steady. they have dropped in the last 12 months but Oil is rising again and the Gas price is pegged to it. I don’t like the idea but a 55 reservation policy may be required for a short period to pull the Gas cartel into line. It is better to have gas from WA than buying our own gas back from the middle men who trade it in Asia.
Ah that should be 5% reservation policy
I thought WA has 20% for local consumption – could be wrong though.
Many thanks.
Sorry Razor, was going to reply but Dismayed has a pretty good summary there. I’m all for domestic reservation. I know APPEA’s reasons against it and they are very economic rationalist for mine. The sort of free market tripe that saw the three LNG trains built next to each other as Dismayed notes. I would also add the heavy-handed way that BG moved into the Surat, and the cowboys elsewhere in NSW who inflamed the populace unnecessarily. The whole unconventional industry is not nearly as bad as it’s portrayed but the horse bolted so long ago he’s been sent to the knackery already. Lock the Gate et al can say anything they like and are believed; the industry can line up facts from here to Betelguese and no-one believes a word.
I know what I heard, Jack.

You?
Here’s another thing. When you first saw a pic of Princess Markle, did you think “Oooer, she’s black!” or the more correct “She’s a woman of colour”, or did you see nothing at all to do with skin colour?
TBH, HU, it would be physically impossible for me to care less about Princess Markle.
Hear Hear JTI Hear Hear. Australian Republic Now.
Same for me.
Talk about blanket coverage…😩
Looks like the rellies are going to extreme lengths to avoid having to show up.
Meanwhile over here in the village you wouldn’t even know it’s happening. More excitement over last night’s soccer game. The village was humming!
Off to the Baseball tonight in Osaka Boa. Can’t wait!
Now that just sounds cool!
It was fantastic Dwight! Stadium packed with all the punters cheering and singing! Again what struck me most was everyone was polite and no angst between opposing supporters. I never saw one angry human being, just smiles and families having fun everywhere. We supported the Hanshin Tigers and have the caps to prove it!
Alas we lost……
P.S. Forgot to mention the ladies with the kegs on their back keeping the punters hydrated during the game. Up and down the stands all night with 17kg on their back! Bloody fit kids.
I’m all up for the wedding, Jack and can’t help feeling sorry for the lass with the estranged family coming out of the trailers and whatever. Still, she’s not the first, nor last, person to have family issues as a result of a marriage. Thankfully most don’t have the media interest and sadly even fewer have the financial interest. I was married in the Chelsea Registry office with about 8 people in attendance. Happy day. And the wife would agree that she married a Royal (pain in the arse – and not that way darlings!).
But this wasn’t supposed to be about me, my missus and Meghan. How are you travelling, Jack? I hope you are on the mend. Those nurses (well 98% of ’em) are doing a job that deserves high praise. I think for many it is a vocation.
Delighted you’re back ‘on air’ and looking forward to the next installation. Be it a Friday funny or a political slant.
on checking an online dictionary, ‘slant’ is not the word I intended. I think ‘political observation’ , and many others are better descriptors of this blog.
Great to see back up and in form Jack. In light of your above comment where do you want me to send the commemorative cup and saucer set? I happen to be in London at the moment for a conference, the timing of which was decided well before the wedding, in which I have little interest.
What wedding are you talking about?
Just joking.
We had to google it to find out when it was.
If there is going to be an audience in the billions all I can say is that there is no hope for this civilisation – too many with too few brains.
Tragedy:-the brides mother was killed in a hit and run in The Peenz. DAFAT amazing in Bbane-an emergency pissport for my Mrs and 12th old baby in 3hours. Have written a thank you to J.Bishop and all of the staff at Brissy and a letter to travel section of SM Hate. Up at 4am for that. Then up at 4am to get her on the plane next day back just in time for the 6yr old to run on the field for his soccer game. Sleep at larst!! A 72yr old faking the speed of an 18yr old AGHHH!! SADE CAFE…even sadder was the Mrs 1st chance to see Souths play Titans on June 8th at Robina. $160 for 3 tickets (No wonder people stay away from footy and cricket). I will give the bride’s ticket to a supporter who can yell loud enough…look for me with the big Souths flag!!
Bloody sorry to hear about the death Bassy. I hope the missus is OK.
On a happier note your mob will annihilate the Titans! If I lived down your way I’d buy the ticket off you and shout you a beer.
Hang in there mate. Sleep is what you need.
