Have you ever thought you might be a secret Italian? Maybe you’re a Canadian and never knew, eh? Perhaps you quietly pine for the fjords of New Zealand but don’t know why?

See, here’s me thinking the Australian Parliament and the Senate in particular had become a freak show P.T. Barnum have been proud to tour the world with, but really it’s just a run of the mill soapie.

It’s a series of Home and Away scripts where the chilly winters of Canberra are replaced by the constant sunshine of Summer Bay.

There is talk of the Liberals imploding and the government falling/losing an election with a new leader…over something major? No, something as simple and banal as a vote on camp marriage… that which is inevitable anyway! And the reason? According to Mathias Cormann it is ‘because we cannot break our promise to the people that we took to the last election”. What a crazy thing to say. Forget all of the promises that were broken in Abbott’s budget that would tear thousand of dollars from families. No problems breaking all these promises…but oh we must not break a promise on camp marriage which is not on any voter’s radar. The Liberals have some crazy idea that camp marriage was an election issue and a major reason for them winning the 2016 election. That is how out of touch they are! If the government is brought down on this bill won’t the history books look portray a strange story. A govt brought down on a bill that would have been passed within 100 days if Labor had won the 2019 election . We must be the laughing stock of the world.

Poor old PM Turnbull, Mr Insider, he just cant seem to please anyone or generate any real interest in his government. I am “almost” ready to feel sorry for him till I jolt myself back to reality and remember it was he who ousted a sitting PM in Abbott, while claiming he had all the answers! No 17 consecutive negative Newspoll coming up for this chappie, but as he says “now” Polls don’t count! What a cheek.

At least the Mooch didn’t get the send off that i’d imagined.
I certainly hope they don’t have to have a swearing in ceremony like we sometimes do here or there’d be even more swearing than that last chap.
Whatever Trump is doing he is creating jobs. Also the other day a bloke at the pub told me that Trump has already saved the US economy several trillion dollars. I’ll go right now and find out where he got that figure from.

    • Henry Blofeld says:

Was on the phone to a dear friend in Odessa Texas this afternoon Milton and she said “well at least US Politics arnt boring”. True, she is a POTUS Trump lover herself. This COS John Kelly seems a bit tough and straight down the line. Would be a real pity to see POTUS Trump change, he is what he is and should stay that way imho. Meanwhile back in “Plastic Politics” Australia……. Cheers.

Does anyone else have Minnie the Moocher going round in their brains?

Load shedding is the new mantra Smoke. Have you ever seen such a grab bag of so called energy solutions in your life? I can’t wait for the next climate induced SA heatwave, it seems the last few hundred years of such events have been unexpected.

  • Huger Unson says:

Disappointing, Jack. In our system the Mooch would have been a natural fit for any of several positions. Minister for Racing for one, Minister for Rural Roads & Bridges another. Leader of the House, of course.

scarymunchkin do the fandango exit stage left

    • Henry Blofeld says:

Am shocked and disappointed smoke but as all good Hit Men he popped up did the “dirty” and quietly faded away. 2 scalps taken very quickly. Cheers

Well, JTI, you have described the White House as a shambles. That is starting to look like a very mild criticism. On the one hand, it is tempting to laugh. However, Trump now seems so erratic and narcissistic that I fear he could do anything, perhaps even a Dr Strangelove move. If he does order, say, Tehran, to be nuked, would the military obey? This is no longer funny at all.

  • Henry Blofeld says:

“I’ll be brief,” Anthony “The Mooch” Scaramucci said as he addressed the White House press corps for the first time.” And he was, Mr Insider, lasted only 10 days. I loved The Mooch, come back Mooch! And his wife has left him too! Strewth.

coalition supporters who continue to shift blame for the ridiculous mixed technology mess the coalition foisted on tis Nation that will hold u the Nation for another decade should have a look at this Especially those dreaming about 5G it seems the 5G don’t do so well on the old copper? It will have to be overbuilt before it is even finished at huge expense. Much much more than doing it once and doing properly. No surprises.
