IF you’re like me, you’re sick to death of the Barnaby Joyce story already and it has only been out there for little more than a day.

And oh, how the Op-Eds rolled out, like a torrent spewed out by the terabyte.

What we might kindly call the new media babbled on about conspiracies between the press gallery and the parliament. Democracy denied was the collective shriek, as if the readers of these inner-city websites were exclusively the denizens of New England.

Joyce won New England with a 7 per cent swing and if an election was held in his seat tomorrow my best guess is he would win by a similar margin.

Even during the campaign Twitter knew. I knew and I didn’t care. Indeed, during the New England by-election campaign, mainstream media reported Joyce was no longer living at the family home. Any journalist worth his or her salt could have chased the story down.

So they create a job just for her, without advertising it to anyone else, just so she can be near her beetroot lothario and his carnal needs.
    .
The only people I feel for in this are Joyce’s wife and kids. It must be horrible to find out what a deceitful bastard your husband really is, and then have the whole world know. Even worse, he got his ‘whore’ pregnant. Oh, and trust me, to his wife and family she is just that.
    .
He needs to go. Can be trusted with water, cant be trusted to curb his lusts, cant be trusted full stop.

  • Razor says:

I note often, on this blog, the likes of Bassy, Dismal, Bella and others talk about coalition lies. I was wondering wat their considered view is regarding the lies Bill Shorten told the Australian people last year regarding Labor having no issues regarding the citizenship of its MP’s. The two Greens, John Alexander, Barnaby Joyce, Fiona Nash and others did the right thing. So why hasn’t Labor?

    • Trivalve says:

Just a point here Razor, it took Barnaby a bloody long time to ‘do the right thing’ and he acted as PM in the meantime FFS. What’s more I strongly suspect that he continued to use his parliamentary office after he resigned (and that’s pretty-well first hand) and I wonder who paid his staff during that time?

      • Jack The Insider says:

IMO, Branaby is toast now. He cannot survive what is coming his way and it has little do with an affair and more to do with abuse of power, misuse of public funds. The cover up is the crime.

I think the rent free from a rich business mate is not a good look, esp on top of the prize from Gina, but I think he’ll hang on.
And hate to be a pain again but is the ideology piece on the way. A good one imho, and that is from someone continuously labelled a ‘con’. The only ‘con’s’ I know are Greek.

        • Boadicea says:

Agree Jack. He should step down as DPM. The whole thing is now too messy to carry on in such an important role. I eonder who they will put in the job?

        • Razor says:

If he’s a crook mate he should cop what’s coming to him.

          • Jack The Insider says:

What has happened needs to be independently investigated. If we had a federal ICAC, it would be all over this by now. Bear in mind what should be investigated is not the affair itself, although it would be near impossible to avoid it. What should be investigated is the revelation in The Aus of paid accommodation donated by a man who refused to give evidence to a Senate inquiry many years ago, the job offer which has got a bit of a stench about it when one considers Campion went from Canavan’s office to Drum’s and the reason for Joyce losing so many staff from is own office and why. Also might be worth having a very close look at Joyce’s personal expenditure.

    • The Outsider says:

You seem to have a short memory, Razor.

There’s only one party to emerge with their honour intact on the citizenship matter and it’s not Labor, the Liberals or Nationals. I’ll give you a hint: the party is of a distinct verdant hue.

The Coalition was forced to act following the resignation of Scott Ludlam and Larissa Waters. I note that the Coalition is still refusing to refer all MPs to the High Court, which would be the fair thing to do, threatening instead to use their numbers to refer Labor MPs.

      Pathetic.

PS I agree that Bill Shorten’s come out badly on this, but you failed to mention that Malcolm Turnbull (wrongly) preempted the findings of a High Court determination.

    • Dismayed says:

Why wont the coalition refer their own 5 others who have dodgy claims? The parliament wanted all member s referred your coalition refused. you are FN blind.

    • Jean Baptiste says:

When the facts change I change my mind. What do you do Razor?
On the information available at the time Shorten was telling it as it was.

    • wraith says:

Desperado, why dont you come to your senses…

    • BASSMAN says:

Shorten told a lie but I must add this. The Looter way of doing it is to fill in a stat dec. The Labor way is to fill out a barrage of forms that are then checked by a lawyer. There is a difference Bald.

    • Dwight says:

I fill out a lot of stat decs lately, and they all have this little line at the end: “A person who intentionally makes a false statement in a statutory declaration is guilty of an offence, the punishment for
which is imprisonment for a term of 4 years — see section 11 of the Statutory Declarations Act 1959.”
I take that seriously. Why don’t they in Canberra?

  • Caught Between Slips says:

Don’t ever buy one ply toilet paper Jack its not a money saver at all.

  • The Outsider says:

It seems that Barnaby’s inamorata had a senior staffer position created especially for her, which was not open to anyone else, and this was approved by the Prime Minister.

Given that the position is funded by taxpayers, it’s definitely of public interest if this was done specifically to accommodate Barnaby’s wishes and Malcolm Turnbull’s unwillingness to explain the appointment, as fuelling the discussion on a private matter, is unconvincing: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5372271/Malcolm-Turnbull-approved-second-job-Vikki-Campion.html

Fantastic show put on by the Koreans for the opening ceremony. The drones were wonderful.

  • Carl on the Coast says:

Ah well …. we can all now take a deep breath and sleep peacefully in our beds once again.
Senator Molan has received a maxima mea culpa with bar from the Green’s Adam Bandt who obviously buckled under pressure.
Barnaby Joyce’s movements over the past 12 months have been rigorously FOI-ed and there was no evidence of him at least fiddling his travel costs.
And Bill Shorten has vowed that he never has, and never will, moralise on other people’s personal relationships.

    Life is good.

Wonderful, Mr Insider, to see the 2nd man to walk on the Moon, Buzz Aldrin watching the SpaceX Falcon Heavy blast off from the same Launchpad he and Neil Armstrong did in July of 1969. Buzz is now 88yo. Great short clip here of Apollo 11 Launch.

    • Jean Baptiste says:

Waal, Henry, they got the rocket now. Reckon they’ll be sending a whole passel of folk to the moon again real soon.
How soon do you feature pard?

      • Henry Blofeld says:

China, Russia, Japan and of course the USA going to the Moon, Mr Baptiste. I see that Falcon Heavy sprinting nicely through the Van Allen Belt, all is go. When the Moon Astronauts went through it 12 times (6 up and 6 back) all they saw was some flashes of light but no damage at all. I think in the next 5 years we will see a new Manned Moon Landing and how fabulous it would be to set down at Tranquillity Base right beside Neil’s Lander, still there. I am ready to go myself Mr Baptiste, what a magic carpet ride that would be and a wonderful way to crown a life lived well. Am sure you would cheer on your humble hero, Mr Baptiste. Cheers P.S. I would give the QLD Government a chance to Sponsor me Mr Baptiste, one needs Sponsorship these days – or Coca Cola.

        • Jean Baptiste says:

Of course! Just answer the question you exasperating little goose. When are they going to the moon?
Doesn’t the fact that nobody ever goes more than a few hundred kilometres from the surface raise the faintest tinkle on your tiny little Christmas bell Henry?
What the hell do you think the Sun is, a 250 watt globe just nine minutes away?
The sad part is that if people weren’t so bloody ignorant and so stupid as to believe that drivel they might have understood how much peril we have been putting ourselves in by pumping our waste into our precious atmosphere.
NASA are going to spend the next few years experimenting with unmanned vehicles to try and find a safe passage through the Van Allen belts. And that’s just the Van Allen belts, after that it’s get seriously deadly.

i must be the only person on here who hasn’t heard of the rumours re Tony Burke, and i still manage to sleep at night.

    • Penny says:

No I never heard them either Milton……I must be reading the wrong newspapers online.

    • Tracy says:

Not the only one Milt, I had to look them up.
      Watford………just say’n

      • Milton says:

You’ll keep, blondie! Amazing, I get top pickings, for 2 weeks out of the season and Chelsea get flogged by journeymen. I said earlier that Wenger won’t be at Arsenal next season, the Roman will have Conte’s suitcase packed and on his front porch quicker than that unless a miracle happens.

  • Tracy says:

    Footy tips Jack.
