Humble servant of the Nation

Turnbull’s jagged little pill

Will the last one out of the parliament please remember to turn the pie warmer off at Aussie’s Cafe? The worst thing we can have now is a fire. Although I accept some cynics believe putting the parliament to the cleansing flames might just be our last best shot at good government.

Ten senators have moved along since this parliament commenced, most frogmarched ignominiously from the big red room, told to pack their belongings into two small cardboard boxes, before their parliamentary lanyards were twain in two with a cutlass and escorted to the front door by two burly security guards.

We no longer have a Deputy Prime Minister, or at least we won’t for a month or so. The Senate President, Stephen Parry resigned and shuffled out the door yesterday. And now, the Energy Minister, Josh Frydenberg is under a cloud.

This brings about the delicious prospect of wait staff at the parliament sidling up to the Minister for Resources, Energy and Northern Australia with a plate of party pies.

“Hungry, minister?”

“No thanks. I already am one.”

Boom tish.

I wonder if the Libs are holding out until the Xmas break and then there will be a whole bunch of snap elections.

Maybe Turnbull should ask the GG to Prorogue parliament now and then let everybody whose citizenship is doubtful in the lower house go to an election?

I wonder what would happen if a foreign Government conferred citizen ship on all visiting politicians and it could not be rescinded?

    @ Dwight
That USA citizenshippy oath thingy sounds the go, we should just read out something like that on the swearing in of new Members. Problem solved.

Jack, this clip of Uma Thurman has popped up all over.

Should she nominate, she’ll win in a canter.

The one horse race I watch each year is coming up and my humble coin is on Max Dynamite. Plus i’ll do a box trifecta with my 3 favourite numbers. And as per usual I always get confused as to race time due to our lack of daylight savings.

Milt put an ‘Any Two’ on Johannes Vameer and Big Duke.

I’m leaning to No 7, Johannes Vermeer, Razor. Only because my granddaughter is turning 7 on the 7th, 2017. All the 7’s seem to be lined up. Another one the Macedon kids tell me could have a chance is Almandin – a Macedon horse who won last year.

Kevin (Andrews) still has that hankering to be PM, wished he’d challenge……can they vote for themselves?

  • Dismayed says:

Mr Insider your blog will not allow me to post factual evidence of the mendacious points made by another blogger. Why I am not allowed a right of reply using the actual comments referred to in one of the accusations. I do think the whole thing is unseemly, but by choosing to publish the long list of very personal prevarications by one blogger should not a clarification for truthfulness be allowed?

    • Jack The Insider says:

Listen to me, do you honestly think I have the time or the energy to adjudicate your petty disputes? Do you think I sit here all trembling in anticipation waiting for your next post, including the nine of yours from the last 12 posts on the blog (two of which I’ve already deleted)? Is that what you think? That I have nothing better to do than deal with your tawdry, shitty complaints? I ought to send you the bill for my time and energy in posting your tripe which I currently do for nothing. I am on the verge of shutting this down altogether and you more than anybody else are pushing me towards that decision.

      • Dismayed says:

No not at all that is why I was trying to post the actual comments referred to. I have been a supporter of your blog and you since inception and have always appreciated your efforts of producing this blog for people like me and the rest to express their views of our Nation. I do find it sad and selective that you have decided to blame me after another blogger has again try to use the blog for her personal issues. Thank you for all your efforts I hope you continue the blog. As I tried to do in the comments you deleted I apologise to all the participants and yourself for having to be exposed to the unseemly efforts of others to shut down a dissenting voice.

        • Penny. says:

Don’t go Dismayed, just don’t post so much and don’t bite. You know yourself you’re being baited, so as I have advised others, scroll on through. Don’t give any others ammunition, but continue to offer a dissenting point of view.
JTI can shut down this blog any time he wants to, he doesn’t need the grief or the petty arguments.

          • Dismayed says:

Dr Penny, as long as the venerable Mr JTI allows me to post, I will. I am still Dismayed at at least 50% of the population so will still offer up as Mr Bassman noted facts and evidence in the bootless errand of trying to open an eye or two.

        • BASSMAN says:

I will say one thing for Dismal…..he provides FACTS for most of his statements.Others don’t.They just maintain their ideological rage

      • Penny. says:

Can’t say I blame you JTI, it’s getting a little tiresome with the he/said, she/said posts. I think someone might have offended me back in 2011, but I can’t be sure.
Having said that it’s all excitement here as we get the tail end of a typhoon from Vietnam and the Philippines and we are stranded in our apartment. Landslides everywhere and a recently completed block of luxury units have collapsed into a sink hole on the road. Thankfully no-one had moved in as yet. It is quite timely as a developer has just had a 37 storey development approved to go up behind our complex which would involve razing part of the hill and the gorgeous jungle. There was a protest this morning in our street which we happily lent our support to by holding up a banner stating “no more killer landslides”……we didn’t write it but I thought it was pretty effective.
The problem is of course is that money has changed hands to get these approvals, the present State government keeps telling us that this all happened before they got in and it is becoming a political bun fight. In the meantime the military has been called in to help those poor people who have already been flooded. More rain expected today and tomorrow

        • Razor says:

That was probably me Penny before we fell back in love! Some of my posts need to go into the ether for 24hrs before they are posted. I think most bloggers here like to see, at times, a degree of partisanship and a sense of humour. To be honest looking at our government and opposition at the moment you bloody need a sense of humour!

        • jack says:

hi Penny, been watching the reports and hoping you guys are OK.

        • jack says:

oh, and i must be blessed, i seem to be a very hard to offend.

i am only an occasional player here, but i rather enjoy a bit a go about issues, as i often seem to learn a bit that way,

i am pretty sure though that i have never changed anyone’s mind much.

i miss the odd person here, Annie especially, thanks Penny for the re-cap.

pleased to have TBLS back as he adds some different perspective, like TV, some actual experience.

lots of good people, i would like Jack to keep it going, if he can.

        • Tracy says:

The flooding was on the news this morning Penny, looks horrendous.

          • Penny says:

Tracy and Jack, yes it was pretty awful. Trouble is the Fed’s are holding back RM125 million promised for flood relief two years ago because the Penang Government is in the hands of the opposition. Najib has said this morning that the floods shouldn’t be politicized and they are now wiling to help. The trouble is most of the money in reserve for any infrastructure has been spent….in other words we have no money, honey.
Most of the damage is in town and people have lost their homes. Trees are still down all over the place, but things are slowly returning to normality. We’ll go into town when we can to see if we can do anything to help, but more rain is expected. If any more landslides occur I would think it might be time to look at some of these property development companies business dealings very closely.

        • Boadicea says:

When one sees the beach erosion on the Gold Coast, Penny, I have visions of some of those tall apartment blocks right on the beach just sinking into the high tide! These days they are often perched on the edge of a sand cliff after a king tide.

      • CoHD says:

Sad and sorry that you feel like that

      • Razor says:

I’ll put my hand up. I need to pull my head in as well. Sorry mate.

      • BASSMAN says:

Let’s all hold hands and sing Kumbaya

  • Dismayed says:

Test strength NSW knocked over by the WACA’s for 270. WACA’s young quick JA Richardson continues to improve with his skiddy quick with shape stuff doing very well early in the season. He along with Sayers, K. Richardson and another half dozens quicks including C. Nile who seems to have really improved can offer depth to the big boys Australia will roll out against the Poms this year. Good to see Boof junior knock up another ton for the SACA’s.

    • Razor says:

Boof junior certainly a star in the making. I am currently in India with some gentlemen from England and Scotland they consider we already have the Ashes in the bag. I’m not so sure. A couple of key injuries and we are cactus in my opinion.

      • Dismayed says:

Yes. Batting still very shaky if Smith and Warner fail things can go wrong quickly. Khawaja who knows? I still have concerns about Handscomb against Broad especially and young Renshaw is struggling still. I still think England will helicopter in Stokes at the last minute. But they still have M. Ali who seems to love playing against Aussie.

        • Razor says:

The blokes over here Dismayed are pinning all their hopes on Broad having a blinder of a series. They reckon if he fails we will beat them 5 zip.

      • Dismayed says:

Ah, apparently it is SOB (Son of Boof) I read today who fell just 7 short of a second century in the shield game. 93 not bad for a second innings dig after a ton in the first. Get him in. I think he bowls some very similar just over arm stuff like his old man, got a wicket the other day.

Another “Barry Crocker” for the hapless PM Turnbull today, Mr Insider, as we see Liberal Alex Hawke the latest MP under citizenship cloud. Strewth is there a real Aussie in the Lib/Nats?
