Want loyalty Donald? Get a dog

Another day, another leak from the White House. This time the leak featured transcripts from a discussion between Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and the self-proclaimed “world’s greatest person”, Donald Trump.

Perhaps even more amusing was Trump’s conversation with the Mexican President where the wall was discussed. In what must have been a moment of hard realisation for the POTUS, he acknowledged to President Enrique Peña Nieto’s translator, “He speaks English better than me.”

The Washington Post would not say how it got its hands on the transcripts. It may have been sitting on them for months. The old simile ‘leaking like a sieve’ is no longer apt in the White House. Sieves don’t let everything through. At the moment the White House is hurling documents out the window, carefully collated with accurate page numbers and stapled in the left hand top corner in the appropriate fashion to any passing journalist.

Trump demands loyalty from everyone in his orbit. As the old saying goes, if you want loyalty in politics, get a dog.

So it is quite odd Trump doesn’t have one. The 45th President of the US doesn’t own a pet of any description. Forty two of the 43 US Presidents before him (I’m not miscounting as Grover Cleveland was both 25th and 27th POTUS) have been pet owners.

Young Matthew Doran, the ABC’s Political Commentator, a smart chap, Mr Insider. Good to see new fresh types come thru as the old guard like Laurie Oakes go into retirement.

  • Mack the Knife says:

Saw you on the crime story show about Chuck Bennett after the Blue Murder show Jack. Nice of the producers to use Chopper on the show, made you look handsome as George Clooney in comparison!

  • Milton says:

Yikes, blood sucking creatures in the sea. Keep out of the water folks.

In other news the coalitions is screwing itself over ssm.

  • Dismayed says:

Ahh the coalition decide the people of Australia should pay $$Millions so they can remain a bigoted group.

    • Bella says:

Turnbull’s a true coward, willing to be told what he can and can’t do.
He’s constantly betraying his own beliefs & I wonder if he’ll ever reach the point when enough’s enough. How sad to be so false.

      • Milton says:

It was all about Malcolm and getting the job, Bella. His father in law should be disappointed in the boy – a precocious husk.

  • BASSMAN says:

I know Jack tried to explain this vcia women’s sport coverage but why won’t Communications Minister Mitch Fifield release the documents explaining a $30m taxpayer grant to Fox Sports. It is not as if Fox is broke? And I am sure to cover a few matches would not cost $30million. How about some accountability here? This is the government that goes to elections on ‘end the debt’ remember.

    • Jack The Insider says:

$30 million to cover those two sports for a season a piece would be absolutely bottom dollar. My understanding is not for one season only or even those two sports specifically. I agree Fifield should be more transparent about this.

Betty Cuthbert’s time to win Gold in Tokyo in 1964 would have got her into the final at the current world champs? Amazing, RIP.

  • BASSMAN says:

Another dead on Manus making 6 since the Looters took govt. No medical help for this poor bastard…the rest?..no water, electricity dysintery rampant. Out of sight and out of mind. A human atrocity is unfolding on Manus whilst we all concentrate on camp marriage. Wrong priorities for our country. And they say prayers in parliament. What a pack of liars and hypocrites. Yep Trumper correct…..you are worse than me! How much longer are we going to let this mental and physical torture go on?

    • Milton says:

And your concern for over 1000 dead at sea, Bassman? Some of those would have been children who had no say in the matter. There is a definite hypocrisy by those crying about this recent death whilst looking the other way during the other deaths.

      • Dismayed says:

No one looked away. It was your fool abbott that had the chance to support the Malaysia deal which would have potentially saved the lives of those people. But because you and your lot always put your narrow ideology over the interests of everyone else the boats increased after abbott refused to support the Malaysia deal purely for politics which he has since admitted. Get your head out of your arse. People are being USED and have been USED by the coalition for decades now for their political games. Hang your head in shame.,

        • Milton says:

Wrong again, Dismayed. Howard had essentially put an end to people arriving in dodgy boats and emptied out the detention centres then along comes your fool Rudd who dismantled all the good work, cheered on by the would be moral high ground poseurs paving the way for over a thousand deaths at sea. Hold your ignorant, vainglorious head up high.

          • Dismayed says:

Milton get someone to explain this to you. Then ask how many people were being displaced around the world. The only cheering done was by the coalition announcing every boat and Empowering the those trading in misery. You are not an Australian. you are a 10 pound pom who will never be an Australian because you are just an arsehole.

          • Milton says:

Dismayed – 10 pound pom? I was born here and weigh a bit more than that. And there are plenty of Australian’s getting about who are arseholes; pull your head out a bit and have a butchers. Once again you’ve got matters arse about. Those people trading in misery you mention never had it as good as when Rudd was in power. The crux of this matter has nothing to do with Turnbull and Trump. I reckon you would have been one of the many who said Abbott couldn’t stop or turn back the boats. He did.

      • Trivalve says:

No-one cared about that until it was politically expedient Milton. It was all ‘illegals, terrorists, interlopers’ etc (and the undercurrent was *brown ones* until deaths at sea became a useful stick to beat Labor with.

Crocodile tears. Maybe not in your case but for the great majority, yes.

        • JackSprat says:

          Come on TV.
It became an issue when everybody realised what the numbers were.
The left have never forgiven Abbott for “stopping the boats” and have concoted all sorts of theories as to why he did not.

          • Trivalve says:

I counsel you to read some blog posts before and after JS. It definitely became ‘a thing’ at some point (and no, I don’t remember the trigger event. Not sure it was the Malaysia solution). And I recall no right-wing hand-wringing over SIEV X.

      • BASSMAN says:

Mate if you think all of this is about deaths and sea and not votes you are more naive than we all thought.By not agreeing to Malaysia 600 more needlessly died.Abbott has since said not supporting the Malaysian option by him was a mistake. More about hard line politics than anything else….by his own admission…..same from Credlin over the carbon tax….remember what she said…..it was never a carbon tax…..we made it into one.

      • BASSMAN says:

And there is another element to all this….the stench of racism….it abounds and was confirmed in Turnbulls conversation with Trumper

    • Bella says:

      And they call themselves Christians.
      What an absolute joke.

    • Dismayed says:

Interesting article on how abbott sabotaging the “Malaysia solution” massively increased boat arrivals.
