Humble servant of the Nation

The Corby circus keeps rolling on

Let’s face it, it’s been a tough week. What we need now is an issue that will unify the nation. Happily we have one at hand, Australia’s pathological obsession with Schapelle Corby.

Corby is set to be deported from Indonesia in the coming days. She will be put on a burner and returned to the only place she would regard as worse than Bali’s Kerobokan Prison — Australia.

Ultimately Corby served nine years in Kerobokan and after being released in February 2014 has served a closely watched period of parole in Bali for the last three years.

Back in March 2005 when Corby was first convicted and sentenced, it was akin to the lunar landing, people crowding around televisions watching the verdict, the media going the full three ring circus routine. While some of the hysteria has subsided, it is set to ratchet up again as Corby prepares to set foot in Australia for the first time in almost 14 years.

“Can Jeremy Corbyn win the unwinnable election?” After a series of promising polls, this question is now being seriously asked in the UK, Mr Insider. As a betting man of some 50 odd years I know nothing is impossible. Ajax lost a 2 horse race at unbackable odds of 1/40! However if Corbyn wins the UK election I will stuff my face into my morning Wheaties and blow bubbles! I may even take up Ballet. Go forward UK not backwards 50 years!

Unlikely Corbyn will get close but the polls point to May not being able to enjoy the majority she needs to get the finer details of Brexit through.

Been reading about the UK election and come across the word Manifesto , sounds rather Commie to me or an infected wound with pus , why not just say this is the Conservative Party Policy , no wonder those Pom voters get confused . Manifesto !! no wonder politics here in Australia seems so common compared to the UK.
Could you imagine a newspaper headline like , The Malcolm Turnbull Manifesto , it would scare the living shit out of people…

    • Jack The Insider says:

Thank you, Bill for the Bill Manifesto.

    • Milton says:

Better to leave manifesto’s to the Greens, just the word gives them mental stiffys.

    • Dwight says:

Bill, if you have a read of Labour’s Manifesto it’s reminiscent of the infamous 1983 one which was dubbed by a party wag as “the longest suicide note in history”. This one is worse. Nationalization? In the 21st century?

More likely to be The Malcolm Turnbull Presidential Decree . . .

  • BASSMAN says:

If we can’t win STATE of ‘ORRIBLE tomorrow night with a heap of Qld’s best Cane Toads out of the squad for fitness etc we will never defeat the Australian Godz…so… Go Da Blewz!!

    • Milton says:

I hear you, Bassman and share your concern, like all on here. Thus far Jack has been brutally honest with his situation, more so than most in relation to long known strangers, like us. I’d like to think he’s gone awol with the family for a few days in Bali.

I say, Mr Insider, looking at Schappelles’s latest Instagram post the comments are rather “salty” no punches being pulled by many, anything goes it seems. Instagram not for your humble correspondent!

That’s weird – I couldn’t see this piece on the site until this afternoon. Here’s me making comments on the old piece and wondering where the hell everyone else had gone . . .

    • Milton says:

Time to adjust the measurements on your impeccably stored home brew old mate. And i’d be surprised if you get to read this as all of my posts of late have not seen daylight.

    • Bella says:

My comments aren’t getting through at all TBLS so happy times for some but bizarro for me.

  • Milton says:

On the matter of making profits from crime consider sections of the media attempting to profit from the crime. One instance is exploiting ones self the other are exploiting others.
