Donald Trump’s Mexico wall: Here’s a little context …

The Donald said he was going to do it and now he is.

The Great Wall of the Rio Grande, the Trump Wall will stretch almost 2,000 miles (3,100kms) from the Pacific to the Gulf of Mexico, putting a gleam in the eye of graffiti artists everywhere. Banksy is said to be drooling in anticipation.

The estimated cost of this stunning feat of architecture is anywhere between $10 and $20 billion depending on who you listen to. Construction time is also a bit of a back-of-the-envelope exercise but by the time an exhausted bricklayer slaps the last bit of mortar on it, it is probable Donald Trump will be around 90 years of age.

In centuries to come anthropologists will marvel at it and wonder what far-sighted genius brought it into existence. Maybe even an old shyster like Erich Von Daniken will propose some unlikely theory that the Trump Wall was built by God who arrived by spaceship with the blueprint and a couple of trillion tons of prefabricated concrete.

I see they are just giving the Australian XI captaincy away these days and another Queenslander average 34 selected???

    • Razor says:

In your opinion but that’s the only type of opinion that counts to a narcissist.

      • Dismayed says:

Oh my as usual in your need to jump in you have highlighted another subject you know little about. Several ex players and an ex selector have already expressed similar sentiments to mine regarding selections for the tour of NZ. Players who have very good records like Bailey, White, Cooper, Henriques, not to mention at least another 10 guys who have scored more consistently than the Queenslander have been overlooked. Hohns continues his weird ways. What of Cartwright if they wanted a young bloke, or Lehmann, or D. Hughes from NSW or Ashton Turner from WA? All of whom have had better summers to date than Heazlett.

    • Lou oTOD says:

You probably missed my comment at the end of the last blog, predicting you’d go apoplectic at Wade’s appointment. An experienced captain steps into the role.

I recon he’d handle you in the side as well, how much experience have you already had carrying the drinks and running errands between overs?

“Pollies quickly renege on so many promises”.
Yep , no doubt we may see the Don do that over time as all do ,even this country.
As for the wall which I see maybe a strange decision with the neighbours , he has a point that sometime , it has to be stopped this mass migration over the border into strange turf.
Today I read for 3 hrs the Australian , Paul Kelly Greg Sheridan and a host of others putting balance in order saying it could take 3 months for America to finds its feet with settled conditions into all angles of trade and industry up and running . The problem in the short term, is the media shooting itself in the foot trying to shut down America by crippling any chance of success in jobs and prosperity. The repulsive obsession of the Democrats trying to lock in the media to destroy America , is the next challenge Trump faces . They are already trying to break the regional harmony after Trump regained it after Democrats ignored mainstream America .Democrats lost the trust of the voters and mainland sentiment by deviating away from important family and business issues replacing with genda PC identity politics. It fanned out that Democrats played a ” fake idealogy celebrity campaign” to try and steal the votes while not addressing the real voter issues . Condemnation and vilification directed at Trump ,just awarded him more votes as we seen Hanson here in Australia.
As for America , no matter who won , they will show passion and resilience as always in their country . The ‘firestorm of criticism’ will dissapate like a storm sooner then later and all get back to work leaving a vandelising media still at large, only harming themselves and America.

      Balance…..Gulp!!

    • Henry Blofeld says:

Indeed Rodent but so far so good with POTUS Trump he is trying to do what he said he would do and many are shocked at that, some on this very blog. Am sure along the way of course some promises will be either watered down or done away with as implementation becomes untenable. However lets hope he is nowhere near like our Tony Abbott was when he came to power and went back on 99% of what he promised! Good points you make indeed.

      • BASSMAN says:

…….but but but Abbott saved the world from the carbon tax which was going to destroy cities, cause 600,000 jobs to be lost, a leg of lamb blah blah blah….AGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

        • Razor says:

You never got back to me on those figures about how much the mining tax would have made. You said billions……..

          • BASSMAN says:

2013 MYEFO said the tax would raise $6billion. Because this was a profit-based tax, which is fair, this would be dependent on of course, profits/the varying price of ore. Sadly, it was never given a chance. Imagine if we had it now with mining profits soaring. Billions wld be raised. I see no objections from the mining royalty taxes imposed by WA and Qld. Complete silence on that mate. By the way why won’t you address the lies associated with what I said…that the carbon tax wld destroy cities etc and that debt is so bad we are a basket case like Greece…according to your lot. Complete silence from you on this and the fact that Looter debt is TRIPLE what it was when Labor was in govt.

          • Dismayed says:

Hockey was carrying $3 billion for the mining tax in 2013/2014.

          • Razor says:

            Bassy,
Labor pushing its spending past the forward estimates and saddling the Coalition with expensive projects such as the NDIS and the NBN has assisted the blowout of debt greatly.

          • Dismayed says:

The NBN is off budget. Shazzamm. You continue to mislead at every turn.

    • Henry Blofeld says:

WOW Dwight I had no idea of the vastness already of the “wall”. Donald’s job made much easier already! Great pics.

    • Lou oTOD says:

Yeah Dwight, funny how so many in the commentariat make out like Trump invented the idea.

The wall, in parts has been there for a long time, so much so that a lot of it is in disrepair, not to mention the tunnellers who are the equivalent of the Indonesian boat smugglers. All Trump plans is to finish the job.

For anyone who has gone through a border checkpoint, and most of the illegals go through the bush, you get to appreciate the extent of the problem. And to clear up the common misconception, a large chunk of the travellers are from Central and South America. Not much different than the exodus to Europe.

Just a short notice with the couple of hysterical bloggers trying to bait me out there .I want to make this clear by not engaging in any rubbish of ranting by you trying to bait me destroying this blog with piddling nonsense you enage in. I will ingage into maturity debates and opinions the way it should be over time .I am not interested in your self-made problems under any circumstances . That is sad TV, amazing how the IRS can go after some cases and conveniently let slide other more obvious tax avoiders. Imagine how desperate he was.

What a tragic loss. He was 69 and shot himself. Reports vary whether his wife was present or nearby. Another rock pioneer bites the dust. He was a fiery and inventive drummer, a true pioner of southern Rock. RIP Claude ‘Butch’ Trucks.

  • Henry Blofeld says:

I like your photo Mr Insider of the Besser block wall and maybe you could bring this to POTUS Trumps attention, highlighting the low cost and also ease of construction. Even the Mexicans could help build a Besser block wall!

  • Henry Blofeld says:

POTUS Donald Trump meets with England’s PM Theresa May at the White House, Mr Insider, and it appeared it was love at first sight with lots of touchy feely including hand holding. Donald looking more Presidential by the day. Meanwhile the Mexican President sits alone and isolated. Stump up for the “Great Wall” buddy and you are back in the “game”.
