Humble servant of the Nation

Losing is just as good as winning

After his loss to Gough Whitlam in the 1974 election, Sir Billy Snedden, former Liberal Party leader and superlative psephologist of yesteryear pronounced: “We didn’t win but we didn’t lose.”

Sadly Sir Billy came and went in 1987 without having been pressed to peel back the onion on that paradox but in a far off windswept Mahayana monastery, clinging perilously to the northwest face of Mount Everest, a small army of orange suited monks are still trying to work it out.

Without wanting to add to their philosophical toil, last week’s UK election provided a rich rota of Sneddenisms. Theresa May lost but still calls No. 10 Downing Street home. Jeremy Corbyn had a thumping victory but fell 64 seats short of forming government. Scottish National Party leader Nicola Sturgeon lost a full third of the seats her party carried in 2015 but was still babbling in front of a bank of microphones like her every word was gospel. Even Nigel Farage put a cheery face on UKIP’s predictable slide into political oblivion.

A couple of things for the lonesome loser who still keeps on trying razor. You are not “most” people on this blog. Have the guts to speak for yourself instead of trying to drag everyone down into your dishonest cesspool. Attacking a well respected journalist with no evidence other than he writes well researched articles that do not fit your Fd up ideology and exposes the lies you propagate is cowardly and against free speech. Your attempts to win at all costs prove just how much of a loser you are. You are eternally outmatched because you do not recognise your own weaknesses. Keep on tryyying. One day you might even get close to draw which then could be seen as not losing as badly as you normally do. HAHAHAHAHA.

“It’s okay”, he smiles and says
Though this loneliness is driving him crazy
He don’t show what goes on in his head
But if you watch very close you’ll see it all

Sit down, take a look at yourself
Don’t you want to be somebody
      Someday somebody’s gonna see inside
You have to face up, you can’t run and hide

Briggsy must have been thinking of you when he wrote that Petal, how dismal.

Yes, the to and fro of the poetry is probably something we could do without. Footy tips, folks. Eagles v Cats kick off the round tonight. Get ’em in.

        • Razor says:

Only ever to JTI never any fro. Hasn’t got it in him. As I said before not an ounce of humour………

What is it with the Thursday night tipping, not that it makes any difference with my tips.
I suspect I’ve been nobbled……….my excuse and I’m sticking to it

          • Lou oTOD says:

Tip against the mighty Eagles with their backs to the wall Tracy? You must be mad!

          • Wissendorf says:

There’s some sort of hoodoo in place. I can’t get a winner on Thursday nights either. Cats brought the lazy boots last night. No tackling intensity and handballs outnumbering kicks won’t get the Cats to the GF.

We didn’t have to go down this path. We had all the cheap energy in the world but virtue signalling was more important than jobs and the lives of people who can least afford expensive energy.

I reckon there are degrees of losing.

I played in an U13 team in the Bellarine Peninsula (Leopold). In my first season, we didn’t win a single game, but we were on top of the world when when we got our first (and only) goal for the season. Our mugs featured on the front page of the Geelong Advertiser for that effort!!

After their last match, Carlton must be feeling on top of the world, Jack. I think I know how they feel.

Ricky Bobby says if you aint first, you’re last. (not the former senator) or Second is first loser. (Gerry Seinfeld I think?)

Speaking of Losers, Mr Insider, and this chap comes straight to mind. He came in like a Wrecking Ball and continues to wreck. Not content with being unceremoniously throw on the Political scrapheap by his own party for failing so badly as PM he now is trying to finish off the Liberal Party and make sure its decimated at the next election. Mr Shorten is beaming!

We didn’t win and we are all losing. It is now clear the modelling used for the Finkel review is corrupted to the point of being worthless and even then it cannot convince the troglodytes of the coalition to put the future generations of the Nation and the planet ahead of their selfish ideology.

    • Razor says:

The report must be close to the mark because neither the greenies or the right like it……

      • Dismayed says:

You are simply delusional. The report is a politicised attempt to give the coalition a chance to come close to heading in the right direction for the nation, future generations and society as a whole. But NO the coalition and its supporters like you are unable to grasp the basics of science and that better newer technologies are available. Lets call them innovative and agile technologies. You have heard these terms before It is clear you are a Socialist that want the government with taxpayers money to fund an outdated unviable industry. Then again many of us have always known the nationals are the real socialists in this country.

        • Razor says:

Everytime someone mentions the word innovation in this country someone in regional or suburban Australia loses a job.

          • Dismayed says:

I suppose you still go to the soothsayer down the road rather than to the Dr with the latest knowledge and technology??? Oh remember the hole in the Ozone layer. After getting rid of the Freon and other CFC’s the hole has just started closing over . If the Nations of the world recognise the damage we cause we can then start to minimise further damage. Why don’t we just go back to the horse and cart for you then. Just another ridiculous statement to say that using new technology or innovating creates job losses without creating others. I guess all the new technology and innovation just appears out of thin air and no one is working on them. No Dr’s for you just the old lady down road who prescribes you salt tablets for everything eh. Why bother using the latest knowledge and technology. You make Neanderthals look advanced.

          • Razor says:

Typical leftist. You only have a social conscience when it suits and you can virtue signal. In in the end it’s all about the idea not the people. The left, from the people who bought you Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot.
