Another year, another polly on the ropes over expense claims. Sussan Ley has been on the receiving end of a media pommeling and the collective wisdom is she’s been a naughty minister. She has been dispatched to Coventry and the view is she should settle down and grow accustomed to her new home.
As an observer of various entitlements farragoes over the years, I think Ms Leys’ spending puts her in exalted company, somewhere between Peter Slipper and the guv’nor, Labor’s Mal Colston. Spending $21,000 in a week or so on transport is extraordinary. I didn’t even think it was possible. With those frequent flyer miles, you can forget about the carrot sticks and chardy in the Qantas club. It’s foot-long lobster subs and Moët by the schooner. Hell, they’ll get you your own plane. Maybe even let you fly it.
The Minchin Protocol always sounded like a bad novel and now as it comes to its denouement, it is about as satisfying as an EH Holden Mechanics’ manual or anything knocked out by Clementine Ford.

trump has said He will choose which journalist can attend press briefings. Dangerous dictator.
No all it means is he doesn’t want the fake news ones Dismayed sensible fellow he is.
He is fake. You are delusional. Most of the “fake news” comes from the Christian news site.
Christian news site? What are you on about now, Dismayed? What has religion got to do with this? Bizarre comnent
Sigh. It is a right wing “Christian” site that runs false and misleading articles “fake new” constantly. You really have no idea what is going on in the world do you.
Interesting comment from Harrison Schmidt.
“I think the whole trend really began with the fall of the Soviet Union. Because the great champion of the opponents of liberty, namely communism, had to find some other place to go and they basically went into the environmental movement.”
At the Heartland Institute’s sixth International Conference on Climate Change Schmitt said that climate change was a stalking horse for National Socialism.
In the same vein he says the climate change movement has the agenda of “big government” and controlling people’s lives more. Interesting guy. But he din’t really go to the moon so what would he know. Wonder where those moon rock samples came from? JB, any ideas? That would be a good way to prove if anyone had been there by an independent geologist studying the rocks. Serious question, not taking the piss.
That’s funny, because the Heartland Institute is a stalking horse for the fossil fuel industry.
But yes, Schmidt went to the moon. And burning fossil fuels is causing climate change. The likelihood of either being a fake-by-conspiracy is about the same. Someone’s even done the maths:
https://phys.org/news/2016-01-equation-large-scale-conspiracies-quickly-reveal.html
As there’s no money in discrediting moon landings, there are fewer of those disbelievers than AGW-deniers. But there’s an uncharitable part of me that is glad they exist, just so Schmidt can have a small taste of how it feels for climatologists who have to listen to his drivel.
Cheap coal energy hey. Oh we forgot to factor in the clean up costs. Michael West wrote a very article about this last year.

Some days you just go “huh?”
A fish-and-chips restaurant’s name was deemed offensive in Vancouver. It’s called Moby Dick.

A private entity known in Canada as a strata corporation, which consists of property owners elected to oversee residential and nonresidential properties, refused to issue a permit because it found the restaurant’s name — specifically the word “dick” — offensive.
Obviously not big readers.

Dismayed 09:36am.
Simple , Your Newscorp scale explains why Libs edged in front of Labor on expenses was due tl after the election win, they had had to scout around and round up all the and find the debts Labor left. For a start Bowan left a defict 48 billion after lied saying 18 billion when treasurer. No wonder extra plane travel existed trying to find out where all these debts were and hidden locked in contract rorts Hockey later found as 60 billion of debts.
Rodent. What is wrong with you. Hockeynomics was a con and has been proven so by all economists since. . He put in spending measures into his MYEFO $9 billion the reserve they did not ask for or need. He then took the biggest dividend in history back twice. He gave up $11 billion per year from the ETS before paying polluters $2.5 billion to pollute. you are WRONG get some help you have lost it.
