Mother and child disunion

Here I was all set to knock out a Christmas column full of cheer and bonhomie but life, or more accurately, Daily Life has intervened.

I normally disapprove of intra-media byplays but Fairfax Media’s Daily Life section has become so full of cranky third wave feminism that someone needs to hold it up to the light. Among this waste of ink and kilobyte street corner psychobabble, comes a contribution from self described feminist Polly Dunning who tells her harrowing tale of giving birth to a shame boy. The good news is she’s slowly getting over it.

I’m not allowed to swear anymore, at least not at volume but this is sorely testing my already fragile grip on self-control.

At first blanch this was merely another addition from women who have recently given birth and have come to believe that having done so, they have unlocked the secrets of the universe. But on further reading this is a tale of a woman not just at war with men but also her own male child.

Full column here.

Re your: “From the prescient Mr Einstein, of whom you have expressed an admiration.”

I should have included in my earlier post to you JB, that Mr Einstein was most probably directing his quote (which appears to have caught your eye on a number of occasions recently) to the dangers of misuse of his E=MC2 work, the atomic bomb and all that jazz.

He certainly wasn’t talking about AGW, so your use of his qoute in the present context seems inappropriate me old mate.

    • Jean Baptiste says:

So you are reading Einstein’s mind now?
Regardless of what Einstein had specifically in mind, there may have been a lot of other things, it is clear that ignorance and denial of AGW is the perfect model of what he was warning of.
Very possibly he considered the possibility of AGW a danger to the future of the planet. He wouldn’t be the first to do so.
You are welcome to the opinion that the quote is inappropriate on the grounds you state, but you are simply nit picking in lieu of an adequate response. He was talking about the people who do nothing. Those that deliberately encourage people to do nothing are much worse.

Geez mate ,..you been a little hard on me mate!
I don’t feel real comfortable with that madman Kim Yong UN roaming around the upper region of the planet .
Ithink Bass we should watch some of these nukes floating around and who is out there setting up aggression disrupting our life styles .Another 100bux heeeeee Bass on nuclear comes before Tim Flannery and his scorched earth arrival. India Bassman now bit worried on their neighbors the Pakis having nuclear capability .Iran another mob setting the pace for some bizarre disruptionnto democracy , Al Gore now laughing made millions out of his DVDs fleecing millions the planet going to flood and burn up sitting back at his seaside sea levels resort house , JB is jumping around acting like real egotistic Professor of global doom and gloom , Dismayed riding on his dillusional favorite saying falling off the rails many times .Milton and Carl correcting the ship many times .Jack TI …saying I am backing the wrong Horse . Well lets hope Bassman that we are fit enough to tunnel under ground and get away from Kim’s nukes .Better still , I might join Graham Connors on his beach house in the Blue Mountains worried about all these sharks swimming in the streets when JBs sea levels start running us out of town up into the mountains Bassman!

    • Dismayed says:

Rodent there is 1 politician saying” bring it on” in terms of Nuclear proliferation. Trump, another delusional septuagenarian.

Amazing our lefty crowd are very silent on the FACTS that they hide from over Dutton taking in 12000 extra refugees and opened the Labor prison detention gates letting out around 2000 kids Burke/Gillard locked up when sailed the seas then Labor intercepted . No sign of passion for Dutts on this .
Dutton is just doing his job voters elected him to do running on high popularity energized and well informed on detention problems. This is democracy at top levels of passion provided not leaving them in cells as Labor government stuffed up encouraging the smuggling trade.

Just announced by IPCC John Christie the boss commenting on we are safer with a warmer planet then a freezing planet which there is no way out for us and forms of life when frozen. I do concede we are steadily warming while results saying 1998 has a pause effects widely stated due greater Co2 .What happens now is scientists working on population growth greater (Dick Smith and Bill Gates ) saying could raise the temperature as huge concrete jungles going up everywhere attracting heat added glass an cement , may alter temperature .
Northern hemisphere provides 90%Co2 with 90%,90% population creating much pollution can stuff us all up .
As for JBs rediculous exaggerations 30 billion tons a year ice lost per year for many years , would show ocean levels many metres high drowning us all .This bloke obviously has no concept of what is happening around him and reality.
Mark Lathan and a team of experts him believes global warming , said 20 billion tons of ice in one year would add 40 to 60cms of sea level. Silly exaggerated links JB reads don’t add up and this bloke and his conspiracy idiots obviously don’t understand maths. Once again , idealogy comes before facts while so far the levels not showing past varying 3cms adjusting with El Nino times constantly changing in the Pacific .JB should give up all this flow on conspiracy stuff from moon landings and WTC911 making a goose of himself.
I do believe science should keep going on re search for much security later.

Australia is gooooooooooo for 2017 Mr Insider as the hard working men and women of Australia start a new working year. Not so our Pollies, who most likely are scattered all over the globe on “fact finding” missions. They will be back in February trumpeting their return to all and sundry as the Messiahs we all deserve, NOT! Turnbull needs to get some balls and Abbott needs to wave goodbye and stop sucking off the Taxpayers teat FGS! As for Pyne and a few others why bother coming.

JtI – Jack, I’ll go with the flow.

Well that was an interesting read. Troy Bramston’s jottings on Paul Keating’s jottings. Breathtaking!! And if Troy boy thinks PK ‘perhaps’ had an eye to history then he doesn’t know his subject. And I note the Oz is trying to give the bio away as part of a package.
I know, I know i’m perceived to have an idee fixe on PK, but besides the natural release of govt papers he has been in the press a bit lately. Not only has it put a slight dampener on my festive celebrations, it has taken a bit of the spotlight off old mate Abbott’s considered contributions to our national debate!

    God save the Queen.

    BASSMAN (2/1, 7.30pm)

Says: ” … but if the denialists are wrong there will be catastrophic events”.

Its obvious that you now appear to be conceding those who have a contrary view (your lazy term – “denialists”) are in the majority Bassy.

Or perhaps you haven’t brought that part of your scrapbook up to date mate.

If the children aren’t frightened of climate change yet, they should be frightened of old selfish fearful morons who refuse to confront the reality of what is happening to our planet right now.

    Bassman 2:50PM
While persons of the ilk respond to their fears by denial and express the fear in irrational, sometimes bizarre outbursts, in this context while it would be absurd to believe they are going to take on any information that will exacerbate their cognitive dissonance, it is by no means futile to engage with them.
Their emotional defences are impregnable, but the object is to provide information which by happenstance might inform others who are open to it. There is nothing personal in any apparent antipathy to the interlocutors, I understand sympathise with the pathology but as needs must when the devil drives they have to be put to some useful purpose.
    Cheers.

    Carl on the Coast 12:33PM

Semantics Carl. Ultimately there will be an accounting, and ugly confrontation between the self interested old and the betrayed young. I have little doubt that you will live long enough to see it. Not because I think you will live to 120 (I would like you to) but because that confrontation will definitely positively absolutely come sooner than you think.
I have had quite a bit of contact with members of the local climate change action organisation over several years. I do not attempt to influence their policy or actions but I am a listener. Trust me, already the mood in some of these bright young people is changing from what was bemusement at the inertia of the established order to anger. I suspect that mood will become ever more infectious over the coming years.

Obviously the confrontations of whatever magnitude will occur before the effective extinction of most complex life forms on the planet. That appears inevitable because as is explained in the link I provided for the oblivious Mr Snott we are incapable of responding appropriately to the situation we find ourselves in.
From the prescient Mr Einstein, of whom you have expressed an admiration.

Best wishes. Your old mate JB.

    • Carl on the Coast says:

Jean Baptiste – see my 11.03PM 2/1 note, it may be instructive.

Also, the “magnitude of effective extinction” you refer to is diminishing by the minute.

My best wishes to your LCCAO and to you me old mate.
