The Donald said he was going to do it and now he is.
The Great Wall of the Rio Grande, the Trump Wall will stretch almost 2,000 miles (3,100kms) from the Pacific to the Gulf of Mexico, putting a gleam in the eye of graffiti artists everywhere. Banksy is said to be drooling in anticipation.
The estimated cost of this stunning feat of architecture is anywhere between $10 and $20 billion depending on who you listen to. Construction time is also a bit of a back-of-the-envelope exercise but by the time an exhausted bricklayer slaps the last bit of mortar on it, it is probable Donald Trump will be around 90 years of age.
In centuries to come anthropologists will marvel at it and wonder what far-sighted genius brought it into existence. Maybe even an old shyster like Erich Von Daniken will propose some unlikely theory that the Trump Wall was built by God who arrived by spaceship with the blueprint and a couple of trillion tons of prefabricated concrete.

Dismayed,
Oh diddums!!!
I know this is going to offend your over inflated ego but ………… you possess neither the flair, elan, wit and piss-taking ability of JB nor the hard working fact collecting abilities of Bassman!!
As they parade their ‘Premier League’ status daily you puddle along as a 4th Division wanabee!!
As desperate as you are to aspire to the big league you somehow believe that bombast, aggression and sly digs can make up for an obvious lack of talent ……. trust me it doesn’t!!
Basically you are letting down the team; grow up or bugger off!!
I cant speak for others, but don’t you try and soft soap me you old devil dodger!
Dismayed is a credit to the younger set with his concerns for the future and I cant blame him at all for his attitude to some of the dinosaurs here. Just quietly I think the real reason he causes so much perturbation is he presents inconvenient truths.

(Trust me, he’s a lamb compared to some of the young hotheads on sites I do battle on!)
I think most here had had a gutsful, plmo.
Trumpmainia has ensured 2 things:-
1. The Republicans will be shitting themselves when the next Congress elections come up
2. They will all be crapping themselves in 4yrs time on the Tea Party side of politics…WHY?
Because Trumper will be responsible for the largest turnout of voters in the history of polls
so that the mob can right the wrongs they did in 2017…..that is if Trumper hasn’t nuked us all by then. Yes, its a worry. A neurotic unstable pig of a man with no people skills and the launch codes at his fingertips. AAAAAAAARRRRRKKKKKKK!!!!
2 lovely old ducks at the checkout today talking about how they are going to vote for Pauline Hanson. I said “Dear, are you aware a vote for Pauline Hanson is a vote for the Liberals”. “How is that they said”. Well 85% of the time Hanson’s mob have voted with the Liberals. “Well we won’t be voting for them anymore” came back the reply.
This is a baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad government.
2 things:- The Sloan Ranger gave Malcolm’s address a helluva caning in the Oz today over debt and deficit…just on that, of all places, 2GBiased had a guy on late at night so as none of the Gods could hear,(Jones, Hate Radley, Bolt, Steve Price and Co) stating how shocking the debt was under the Looters with no definite reason-strong trade, pretty sound global economy, booming coal and iron ore prices. He went on to say Labor had good reasons for debt, the GFC, to save jobs, in vest in infrastructure. The guy just could not work out how the Liberals could have gross debt approaching half a trillion with no GFC to deal with and nothing to show for it. This mob are a train wreck.
He hung up on us! Australia, best allies they have, and he hung up on us. Are we going to be a bunch of pussy grabbed women and just let this go? How about Trumpy gets a bit of ‘consequences for his actions’. Right now, if he’d hung up on me, I’d be issuing an order of my own.
.
How about we chuck them out of Darwin? Seriously. Make the arsehole stand up and understand that you dont treat your allies like hookers. He can do as he likes? We can do as we like. First issue of order, all American ships out of the harbour toot sweat.
.
Im a bit pissed off as an Australian that we are treated like this. Does it show?
regards all
Wraith I’m so looking forward to his first big overseas meeting, APEC, G7/8…………whatever, it’s going to be excruciatingly embarrassing to all.
Just imagine Trump and Duterte in the same room, size will matter.
Robust comments there Wraith and I do understand where you are coming from but lets not throw the baby out with the bathwater. I think the “Malcolm” factor played a big part in this situation, he’s a bloody dill first class and Trump is a shrewd operator used to dealing with fools to which category Turnbull fits in nicely! God bless Australia and the USA!
and he’s bagging the refugee deal on twitter…. the deals off..
MT might be a bit browned off… won’t do a thing about it though
I’m with you wraith & we need to tell that bombastic egotist that he’s got 24 hours to clear out. Turnbull needs to hit redial, tell Trump it’s an Australian style ‘executive order’ then hang up on him.
That’ll learn him.
Oh jeez wait…it’s Turncoat. Maybe he’ll save a wet lettuce leaf from his lunch & wave it about.
Regards, Bella
Trump is an amateur. Meanwhile local Trumpohiles’ heads are going to explode trying to choose between their glorious ubermensch and their nationalism.
So the truth comes out now about PM Turnbull’s phone call to POTUS Trump, Mr Insider, where Trump treated Turnbull like the fool he is and we read: “At one point Mr Trump informed Mr Turnbull that he had spoken with four other world leaders that day — including Russian President Vladimir Putin — and that, “This was the worst call by far.” Not a good few days for Turnbull as last night we learnt he gave $1.7million to the Liberal Party FGS!

Henry, I think you’ll find that Trump just did that so he can tell his base that he did what he could to stop the deal but he was bound by the international agreement. Trump is just paying his dues to his base. Whether he agrees with his base, who knows? But it doesnt matter. Trump gives his base something and Trump gets the support of his base. Its a completely transactional equation. Long term it wont work though because people are not just “bundles of transactions” who can be paid off like this. Many of Trump’s base are callous and unfeeling and unthinking. But many of those who voted for him did so becuase they just wanted some of the transactions he was offering. In time its likely they will be repulsed by Trump’s willingness to feed the base.
Once the heat dies down on this deal Trump will be back to being buddies with Australia, subject to making us “pay our way” – which is, of course, deeply offensive because Australia has paid its way in this alliance by sacrificing hundreds of our men and women in the US’s wars and many thousands more Australian men and women have suffered as a result of America’s wars. Those Australian lives do not come with a price tag. And that shows why transactional leadership is a very limited form of leadership best kept in the boardroom.
Don’t get the impression Trump is buddies with anyone except his mirror darren
true, but he knows that his base will want to be friends with the USA’s allies (subject to America First and us “paying our way”) so he will pretend to be our buddy. the question is will we want to be a buddy of trump america.
Australia and the USA will am sure always be staunch allies Darren no matter who is PM or President. We have fought alongside the USA for 99 years and doubt that will ever change. PM’s come and PM’s go and as far as I am concerned Turnbull is in the “OUT” box and long overdue.
If I was a gambling lady I’d put money on the detainee deal not happening. Which could well spell the end for Turnbull….
Its dead in the water imho and always was when Trump became President Yvonne. This Turnbull is next to useless and lets hope he goes replaced by someone who knows what he or she is doing for the good of Australia and Australians.
Well I agree with Trump Yvonne…and that is about all I agree with him on! Why should the USA have to do our dirty work for us just so the Looters can satisfy a crazy political end as they have always done in using refugees as election fodder. The Yanks are not THAT dumb. Especially when we have less debt than the USA and one of the largest GDP/per capita per head in the world. Its insane what the Looters are putting up as a ‘deal’.
His ranting phone call to Turnbull which ended in him hanging up demonstrates that Trumper is unstable. I am VERY worried that this madman has 1st access to the nuclear launch codes.
Gotta agree Bassy. I thought the deal with Obama was strange to begin with. Why would America want them? What was in it for Obama? What was in it for Turnbull?
The whole bloody thing is strange and Trump most likely, in fact most definitely, thinks so too.
It won’t happen and then I wonder what comes next with the detainees?…………
i would have thought the benefits were obvious, yvonne. obama got to do something useful for the australian government and so strengthen the USA/Australia relationship, while fixing a humanitarian problem. Good for a lot of people and giving the USA leeway to ask for special favours in future should one be needed. A bit of a win-win. Trump doesnt think of long term relationship issues like this because he has a character deficiency in that area and he has also run his business on the basis that he doesnt do relationships.
I had a billionaire client like trump. He would chisel everyone who ever worked for him except for a small handful of people who were vital to him (and he knew it). That small clique were on eye popping contracts. But as an example of how this operated he consistently failed to pay the rent on his office and gave various excuses. The landlord would, eventually, take him to court and he would then pay, at a reduced rate. When the lease came up for extension the landlord refused to extend it. And heres the thing: my boy was genuinely surprised by that (on one else was). As he said to me (about the rent fights and chiselled down rent payments) “its just business”. That was a complete inability to see the benefits in long term relationships. the Chinese are the exact opposite. THey have pumped trillions of dollars into Africa not just for the short term work but also because Africa is also home to some of the biggest cities in the world and in 20 years the population of Africa will make it a power house (assuming it grows past its wars – and the signs of that are reasonable). When that happens a China with a shrinking population will have lots of friends in Africa. Trump’s america is not even thinking about these things.
It will be rather unfortunate for the Central American refuges that we agreed to take in return don’t you think?
terrible outcome
I too am worried Bassman.
It appears that mental health professionals are as well.

If they are right the world is in a particularly parlous state.

“you’re leading a protest, I’m leading a country”
What a woman! Go Theresa!
Can we borrow her for a while?
Has the puppeteer been exposed. Bannon, making trump dance to his crazy right wing fears???
Bannon is not the puppet master, Dismayed. If you think that then you dont understand Trump. Trump does what Trump wants to do. All Bannon is doing is reflecting the message from the base – in that sense he is like a one man opinion poll of the base. Trump makes the decisions. And its Trump who is delivering on his contract with the base (although he might be getting Bannon to do the administrative work required to implement Trump’s orders).
I see turnbull has admitted so called “clean coal” is not economically viable and will consider diverting Renewable energy funds to Subsidise the building of the plants. There is already data and research done to show even with the continued subsidisation of coal it will be more expensive than renewables. I am sure the coal rent seeker’s here will be screaming against subsidising the building of any such plants. “clean coal” is an ongoing cons con.
Oh for goodness sake. What’s with the fuss over Malcolm’s $1.75mill donation? If he wants to give away his money why shouldn’t he. Very generous if you ask me. And no doubt very useful. At least it’s not union dues from low paid workers propping up membership figures for Labor factions.
Of course Shorten is jumping up and down. If I were him I’d be keeping my head real low on this one!!
It’s just a bit surprising, that’s all. Malcolm and Lucy Turnbull previously had a track record of restricting their generous donating to organisations that make a positive contribution to the people of Australia.
