A Pennsylvania grand jury has released its findings accusing 300 Catholic priests of sexually assaulting more than a thousand children over 70 years.
The report was released yesterday and follows a two-year investigation.
The report contained evidence from victims as well as forensic examination of files held by the Church in six dioceses around Pennsylvania. The archived material was reluctantly handed over by the dioceses under subpoena.
Among the long litany of abuse, the grand jury report contained shocking evidence of four priests from Pittsburgh who allegedly preyed upon a group of young boys in a pedophile and child pornography ring.
The priests used whips, violence and sadism while repeatedly raping their victims in a rectory.
The Pennsylvania grand jury described the behaviour of the dioceses as “a playbook for concealing the truth.” It is an experience that mirrors our own in Australia.

To use an oldie, if the answer is Dutton they are asking the wrong question. Regardless, if they do change leader you can be sure Bishop would support them 100%.
There are so few things we can be certain of but that is one.
Vale Aretha.
Here’s a clip from a Kennedy Centre tribute to Carole King, the composer of the song, A Natural Woman, performed by Aretha in 2015.

JTI, I was thinking about your comments about how pedophilia was rife in some regions and not in others.
What is acceptable behaviour comes from the top management of a particular area.
I have seen it in companies where one group was squeaky clean while another part of the company was not and it was all due to lax and weak management. Senior management accepted the behaviour while the performance was there. The “good of the Company”, “Keep the Shareholders happy” was always mentioned but never anything about bonuses and job security. The end game always was failure as the behaviour just got out of hand.
One can see examples of this in the Banking Royal Commission, group think in media companies — well group think in general.
Once the behaviour is set, it is very difficult to eradicate.
Could partly explain the differences between some of the seminaries and dioceses you mentioned.
It is an extremely complex issue as to why it happened and seemed to happen across may organisations
Spot on, JS.
It appears that Turnbull has given the details of the NEG to Labor while his own party members have not seen it.
He is a gift to Labor who just keeps on giving.
For my two cents worth there has been no adequate punishment given to those still alive who have offended or known about what was going on, even for those tried you feel there is still much being covered up.
Twelve months home detention for the latest is utterly ridiculous considering the victims have a life sentence.
