In years to come our children might ask, “What did you do in the Macklemore War, Dad?” My response will be, “Like a lot of people, I fought and died just a little bit inside.”
The noise around the same sex marriage voluntary postal survey has turned this country into a dismal, joyless place, where proponents and opponents quibble over meaningless symbolism like seagulls over a chip.
I confess I didn’t have the slightest idea who Macklemore was until earlier this week. I would be perfectly happy to bathe in that ignorance today. I might even have watched him perform in the NRL Grand Final pre-match, wondered out loud who he was before going to the fridge and grabbing another beer before the kick off.
By the time the match ended and the premiership trophy was held aloft by the victorious captain, Macklemore’s performance would have been a distant memory, rather like my knowledge of the 2004 coup d’etat in Equatorial Guinea in that it was a long time ago and didn’t really make a whole lot of difference to my life.

Bought a leg of lamb the other day.
It was a pretty big leg of lamb – cost $70.
The butcher got offended when I had to the temerity to suggest it was mutton.
“I don’t sell mutton – only lamb” – anything up to a 2 toother is lamb .
The Kiwis have got it right – lamb, hogget and mutton. If you can ever lay your hand on an export leg of Kiwi lamb, go for it. It is out of this world.
I have not seen lamb at $10 a kilo in a looong time.
I wonder how long it will take Sanjeev to get the Australian disease where many companies spend more money on lobbying the Government for hand outs than they spend on R&D.
Woolies has at the price today.
It must be true. its in the Australian

Tesla boss Elon Musk has held a party in South Australia’s mid-north to mark the halfway point of construction of the world’s most powerful lithium ion battery, Mr Insider. Also Elon, currently in Australia, has announced plans to colonise Mars in the very near future (2024) and I for one am amazed and will be surprised if this is done. Who for example would volunteer to even go on a Spaceship to Mars given it takes about 9 months to get there. Still Elon is a mover and shaker of mega proportions and so far he has done all he said he would do.

Gerard Hendo’s article on ssm is worth a read, raising salient points.
Rubbish. No surprises. Old world out dated usual Henderson bile.
As Gryzly is probably busy with his big bash, which we haven’t heard much of, there is an afl game on today. As per usual one must be in Australia during the game for their tips to be accepted.
Not sure that wasn’t a rant JTI, but bloody glad we are out of the country right now. BTW, one of my sisters is gay, so don’t anyone come the Dismayed with me. She has no interest in getting marred to her long term, life partner.
Hey Tracy, we are not only rocking the Kasbah in the High Atlas Mountains, it is owned by a French couple so a couple of beers before dinner and a nice bottle of red with it. Yee hah! And WFI to boot, better than some parts of Sydney. We still won’t see the GF’s so don’t tell me the scores. Just kidding. I feel a crow storm coming on, so don’t crap in your own nest when voting.
That song has been going round my brain since I mentioned it, only right I should inflict everyone else https://youtu.be/bJ9r8LMU9bQ
Jack, EPL tips before you start imbibing and coach hogging.
Couch….bloody spell check.
Ta.
Very good article Jack.
The whole thing is sickening and I’ve been wondering what his tactic is to draw it out like this.
Never heard of him..if he is RAP he is CRAP…I don’t care what he sings. My beef is we should not import o/seas musos to our gigs when we have the best acts here Bald.
Quite right Bassy
Bman from the last one I think you are correct the taxpayer is paying for all politicians costs plus the corrupt public servants they hired knowing they had broken the law.

Sad Cafe Bald!
AFL Grand Final tomorrow Saturday, Mr Insider. Am no expert on this game and see Richmond are going to try to break a 37 year drought, last winning in 1980! Port Adelaide last won in 2004 so maybe its anyone’s game? May the best side win.
Adelaide Crows, mate. Last won in 1998.
Opps sorry wrong Adelaide side. Possibly still an even tussle?
Should be.
Good to see the applause outweighed the jeers when James Hird presented the Norm Smith medal.
Back to the topic at hand friends of ours’ son came out to his parents two years ago when he was 13. Darwin’s Pride Festival finishes tomorrow and the family has played a prominent role in all the events. On the other side of the coin however a woman I worked with 15years ago once told me that her son had told her he was gay and she had thrown him out of the house. I ran into her a few days ago and asked her how she was going and she said she was devastated that he never contacted her…..well duh.
Penny, those people are the ones who are saddest. I think a relative of mine is afraid to come out to her father, and I am no longer close enough to broach the subject with her.
1980 was gruesome
Over at quarter time. Just pain thereafter for Pies’ fans.
Followed by 37 years of shere karma! 🙂
