Want loyalty Donald? Get a dog

Another day, another leak from the White House. This time the leak featured transcripts from a discussion between Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and the self-proclaimed “world’s greatest person”, Donald Trump.

Perhaps even more amusing was Trump’s conversation with the Mexican President where the wall was discussed. In what must have been a moment of hard realisation for the POTUS, he acknowledged to President Enrique Peña Nieto’s translator, “He speaks English better than me.”

The Washington Post would not say how it got its hands on the transcripts. It may have been sitting on them for months. The old simile ‘leaking like a sieve’ is no longer apt in the White House. Sieves don’t let everything through. At the moment the White House is hurling documents out the window, carefully collated with accurate page numbers and stapled in the left hand top corner in the appropriate fashion to any passing journalist.

Trump demands loyalty from everyone in his orbit. As the old saying goes, if you want loyalty in politics, get a dog.

So it is quite odd Trump doesn’t have one. The 45th President of the US doesn’t own a pet of any description. Forty two of the 43 US Presidents before him (I’m not miscounting as Grover Cleveland was both 25th and 27th POTUS) have been pet owners.

Clenched buttocks time for Jack as his team is up in Q4 and he is their sole tipster.

    • Jack The Insider says:

It wasn’t to be. Had a bit of a yell at Levi Casboult who failed to chase and tackle on three occasions in the last quarter. Hope the coach is doing the same.

      • Trivalve says:

Not to mention that shot at goal with about 2 to go

Had to go for a walk along the beach JTI….I told you it would be close.

        • Jack The Insider says:

I couldn’t possibly say Carlton should have won. Essendon were profligate in front of goal. Wouldn’t have been close if your lads kicked straight. Good game though and plenty of positives for the Blues. Jones is becomung an elite defender and Sammo Petrevski-Seton showing more and more in the midfield.

Update to Nikki Savva’s Road to Ruin very interesting.

    • Trivalve says:

      Has the UCs frothing

      • Tracy says:

Wonder if they have actually got anyone lined up for Warringah, as Savva says no ones going to put their head above the parapet until they really have too.
Hilarious that Abbott refuses to be in the same room as Savva and it’s seems Credlin already has trodden on feet at Sky

Update to the Insider’s mob tipping comp and I’ve just hit 100 but i’m wishing you the best in the nervous 90’s!

      • Tracy says:

The first time you are in front of me in five years Milt and that’s coming from a low base.
        EPL kicks off next weekend.

        • Milton says:

Goodness, Tracy I’ve found a pulse! I’m guessing the 5 yrs was in Grylys gig as I recall getting extremely generous gifts from SimontT in your comp. Be sure, Tracy I respect you as the goods in sports tipping, and across the genres!! Hence my infantile jibe!

          • Tracy says:

Speaking of Simon T, I presume he’s still overseas as he hadn’t claimed his bottle of red yet.

          • Lou oTOD says:

Bragging rights, or even bagging rights I can handle Jack, but let’s not talk about ragging rights. That’s not in the spirit of the game.

The winner this year will also get the clairvoyant award.

  • Boadicea says:

This SSM thing drags on ad infinitum it seems
Is anyone’s life going to be adversely affected if two men or two women who love each other get married? No.
Just do it – and get on with sorting out the more serious issues confronting this country

  • Henry Blofeld says:

Looks like Jefferson Beauregard Sessions , the 84th US Attorney General, has survived so far anyway the “POTUS Trump Tweet Kiss of Death”, Mr Insider. Jeff seems a kindly old soul too meek it would seem to mix with the tough POTUS and crowd imho. He may have some “connections” in the Republican Party, not that that would bother POTUS Trump too much, head kicker he is.

    • Jack The Insider says:

He’s been quietly dismantling a lot of Obama’s reforms on voter registration especially. There’s nothing kindly about him.

      • Dwight says:

“Reforms” is a seriously misused word in politics. It actually should be changes. It is a rare reform that actually improves things. Most merely tilt the table to one side or the other. Most of what Obama did in his term was the latter.

        • Jack The Insider says:

What’s the problem with encouraging peopke to vote and making it easier for them to do so? The US has appalling turn out rates.

        • Trivalve says:

Make ’em all vote Dwight. Except that would be communism I guess.

If they aren’t reforms, they’re deforms.

        • BASSMAN says:

The other word I despise is FLEXIBILITY….it was one of Howards favourites that he regularly used to destroy workers rights and benefits…..especially turning full time jobs into casual jobs.

“The other word I despise is FLEXIBILITY…”
And to think you were in the “education” game, B’man. What a lot of rot and hypocrisy and base stupidity, on so many levels.
Get over Howard for a moment and reflect on the unions treatment of workers and the Greens efforts on the environment.

  • Henry Blofeld says:

I think in your column, Mr Insider, you may have hit on the fact that POTUS Trump already has a pet Dog as you write and I quote: “I think Trump broadly understands his pet needs without having acted on them. Otherwise why would he appoint John Kelly, a man known as “Mad Dog” as his Chief of Staff? ” Goodness me not a nice name for ones pet pooch “Mad Dog”. Wonder how he got that name, it conjures up the fixed bayonet, hard changing , crazy do or die, soldier imho.

    • Jack The Insider says:

A little error on my part. Kelly is not known as Mad Dog. That moniker is attributed to Secretary of Defense James Mattis. Also FDR was elected POTUS for the fourth not third time in 1944.

  • Boadicea says:

He’s too narcissistic to have a dog. There is only room for one person in his life – himself…..

  • BASSMAN says:

T.Bull and Dutton caught out lying again about refugees…their status “economic” when they have been classified genuine refugees and imprisoned for 4years. If they were ‘economic’ they would not be on the island. They would be flown back.. … SO “Why don’t you let them go says Trump after 4years”? What is this thing about boats Trumper quizzes TBull…yep bloody good question. Come by plane? No problem…Its votes mate. It’s about VOTES mate not the boats. Don’t you get it Donald! Turn your hearing aid up.

Dutts and T.Bull are dealing in people trafficking and makes a mockery of ‘wanting to save lives’. Lied about the number . . ‘you can take 100 or 1200 or even none. Geez you are worse than me says Trumper. Any credibility T.Bull had has gone gorn gawn. Conditions on Manus are shocking now…no water, power turned off. Dutts is trying to bleed them dry, force them out.
Can this mob stoop any lower? Yep for sure. Where are the Dr’s wives when we need them? The Looters get away with it because of the secrecy. If ever a R. Commission was needed well this is it.
Labor is even worse for not speaking out. Who gives a crap about the wedge? Shorten is a disgrace. Not worthy to be leader or PM. Don’t vote for them!

    SOUTHS!

      Bassy,
I posted a reply to you the other day which doesn’t seem to have made it. It was in regard to your complaint about Foxtel prices. Google ‘Foxtel Now’. I have recently switched to it and it is heaps cheaper and you can pick and choose what you watch. You’ll need to purchase a chromecast dongle to set it up.

      Cheers.

  • Trabvitch says:

The more I see of politics now, the more I enjoy my time with my 2 year old grandson, who is a great part of my life along with four generations of Eastern Europeans all living together. Yes he is a boy, not a fluidised gender uncertain being as some would want him to be. However, what he faces in the future under our current and future crop of self-serving, narcissistic pieces of shiite who believe it is their right to tell us what to do I dare not visualise. How can marginal issues control political life, however my view is that this is due to to the press pushing an agenda, and trying to get a story. There is a majority of people who don’t get a say and are marginalised themselves by the marginal issues which controls politics. Eff all poliies, eff all minority groups and give the silent majority, who are being marginalised, a say.

    • Mack the Knife says:

Too true Trabby, I have a 6 year old daughter and sometimes, when feeling low, I have dark thoughts of the “Oh what have I done” type. The future is uncertain and who knows what kind of adult life she will inherit. One positive is, she doesn’t know any better. No wonder a man drinks.

    • Boadicea says:

“four generations of Eastern Europeans all living together”

How wonderful Trabvitch. What I find pretty horrific in these times we live in is to see elderly folk shunted off into aged care facilities because they are somehow a nuisance to be cared for by their children – to whom they gave life, love and succour through their growing years.
Makes my gut crawl. Good on you!

  • yerself is steam says:

    Jack,
Turnbull was doing a great fealty thing in that phone call, making the “very strong and intimate relationship” bigger and better. Loyal.
Then Turnbull tells The Don that the agreement does not require the US to take any of the “economic refugees”. Very loyal.
Then Turnbull assures the Don that “We will take more. We will take anyone that you want us to take.” Bigly loyal, in a pathetic way.
But then this in response to the Trumpster’s “I got you off the hook. So you put me back on the hook.”, the faithless Turnbull answers “You can count on me. I will be there again and again”.
Never a truer word spoken by Turnbull as he screws the US pooch.
Get a dog up ya mate.

What I learned from that transcript is just how deeply ashamed I am of the whole rotten saga of deaths in custody, assaults, mistreatment, rapes & child abuse. It shows exactly what stop the boats was about & that’s the LNP seeking political gain, not about saving any lives.

It’s come down to nothing but human trafficking by the true mongrel scum of our society, those parasitic politicians who put them behind wire for years without hope.

They will never speak for me & I want a RC to expose every filfthy secret our governments have kept hidden from their own people.

  • Rhys Needham says:

After this transcript leak, I’m so hoping that someone does set up a band called ‘the Local Milk People’.

Robert Mueller’s also started up a Federal Grand Jury to investigate the links between the Trump campaign and Russia, too, so things seem to be hotting up quite a bit in Washingmachine, D.C. – https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/special-counsel-mueller-using-grand-jury-in-federal-court-in-washington-as-part-of-russia-investigation/2017/08/03/1585da56-7887-11e7-8f39-eeb7d3a2d304_story.html?utm_term=.fa7c7582fb90. I really suspect that this is just the start of things, especially if they start getting into investigating his business empire.

    • Jack The Insider says:

Yes, big news. It would seem there are at least two grand juries in place. In state matters they last a month, federally they can go much longer.
