Humble servant of the Nation

Neil Prakash is about to enter years of hell

Australian terrorist Neil Prakash is before the Turkish courts. It is just the beginning of his punishment. Eventually, it is hoped he be returned to Australia to face punishment for his crimes.

Born in Melbourne of Fijian and Cambodian parents, the 25-year-old is an Australian citizen and so he’s our problem but like patrons at the deli counter at Woolworths, Australia will have to take a number and wait to get its hands on Prakash.

He is, to employ the vernacular, in more shit than a Werribee duck. I could be more sensitive and suggest he’s in more strife than the early settlers but I don’t think the early settlers ever did it as tough as he soon will.

Genius Professor Stephen Hawking has revised down the time he believes Mankind has left on Earth, Mr Insider, from 1000 years as he told us last year to now only 100! Strewth, we better get that Moon and Mars Colonies set up pronto! My money is on Elon Musk of SpaceX to bring home the “bacon”.

Some say that the increase in temperature is exponential and we are where it is about to go vertical.
If that is true, all over in a lot shorter time.
There are a few docos going around about the world’s greatest natural disasters.
There have been droughts, floods and famines in the past that have killed 10’s of millions.

Shorter than 100 years you say , JackSprat! We have no time to lose do we. I just hope the end is quick and painless, should it arrive in my lifetime. In the meantime I implore the Elon Musks’ of the World to redouble their efforts to find us a new “home”, however out options look bleak indeed! Cheers.

        • Bella says:

Forget the Elon Musks of the world finding a new ‘home’ planet Henry cos we’d just trash it like we have done with this planet.

          No idea Henry.

If correct, long and slow I would imagine as eco systems fail, famine stalks the land and mass migration to the last few inhabitable places making them totally inhabitable.

I cannot imagine it happening quickly or at all but change it will..

        • Jean Baptiste says:

You’ve been asleep Henry. Get someone to explain “exponential” to you.

And try to pay attention to your environment. Here, we never had mosquitos until three years ago. This year we had them right up till early this month.

The flaw in that argument Henry is that the environment on the Moon and Mars is far far worse than a hot green house world.
Earth has water and breathable air.
The extremes of temperatures on said planets are also far worse.

  • BASSMAN says:

I wonder why the Liberals and most of the right wing newspapers and their army of shock jocks constantly try to make the word “terrorist” synonymous with the word “Muslim”, by limiting their coverage to Muslim terrorists only. We are all familiar with Boko Haram, but never knew about a Christian militia’s “Lord’s Resistance Army”, which is trying to establish a Christian state in central Africa and has maimed, raped, killed, and displaced over 100,000 people in Uganda. Everyone is familiar with ISIS but no one knows that the equivalent Christian organisation, the KKK, is setting records in their recruitment. The “Concerned Christians”, another terrorist organisation, is active in Israel. In January 2017, Dimitrios Gargasoulas is alleged to have killed six and injured another 30, during a car rampage in Melbourne. Alexandre Bissonnette, a white supremacist, is alleged to have killed six Muslims in a Quebec City mosque shooting. In November 2015, anti-abortion terrorist Robert Dear is alleged to have killed three people at a Planned Parenthood Clinic in Colorado. In June 2015, Dylann Roof, another white supremacist, killed nine black people in South Carolina. In December 2014, Raina Mersane Ina Thaiday killed eight children in Cairns (while in an “apocalyptic delusional state”). Terrorists exist in every colour, race and religion. We have always had terrorism in fact I read a piece of research the other day that found terrorism in Europe is far less now than it was in the 70’s and 80’s. Carlos ‘The Jackal’ killed hundreds of people. Timothy McVeigh killed 168 and injured 600. They make some of these Muslims terrorists look like amateurs. Martin Bryant is even up there. Never hear much about these? Hmm. I smell racism.

THIRSTY:-he will be out for a looooooong time. His rotator cuff is stuffed. I have had the same shoulder surgery. It takes a year to get over. Bloody longer than heart surgery! Heaps of physio with pulleys and rubber strings, weights, bar lifting etc, rotation exercises. In fact my surgeon said a complete shoulder replacement is a better and quicker option for sports people. I am supposed to have the other shoulder done but the rehabilitation period is far too long. I was warned the surgery is very painful but mine was painless. After the Op. I didn’t even need panadol!

  • Dismayed says:

Apologies off topic. Just wanted to respond to some of the comments from the last blog. The usual suspects with their usual friedmenesque rubbish and blind ideological attacks for the sake of it. The article below demonstrates that the major banks are close to the most publically subsidised companies in Australia the tune of $5 billion a year. Even the Murray report acknowledges this fact. They are the most profitable banks on the planet and huge rent seekers at the same time which distorts the industry and economic outcomes. For the banks to threaten governments for trying to get back some of the subsidies they enjoy is a disgrace. Of course I expect the mindless sheep of flock of the broads church to again selectively and hypocritically resist anything an elected Labor government would suggest even if for a change they are copying the collation play book, because we all know if the coalition double the debt and triple the deficit it is good, if Labor incur debt to help create jobs and provide infrastructure it is just bad. Says a lot about the coalition sheeple. Just as well the dolts are in charge. No Surprises.
    https://www.macrobusiness.com.au/2017/05/joye-banks-get-5b-annual-taxpayer-subsidy/

    • JackSprat says:

And of course your rent seeking Labor mates in the SA Parliament who depend on aid from other states just as much as any third world country does are doing their level best to turn them into unprofitable ones – ye Gods – they can not keep the lights on and after building the 3rd most expensive building on the planet – the Hospital – they want to build another one..

One thing worse than a profitable bank Dismal and that’s an unprofitable one.

As to the link you put up – what a load of cods. It is proof that anybody can prove anything if they want to twist the facts enough and there are gullible idiots on the planet who believe it and propagate it. I guess this article is indicative of the echo chamber you live in along with Propaganda Central. How sad!

      • Frank says:

Tell me, do you hate South Australians just because they are South Aussies, or is it some pathetic political thing, ie we have a Labor state government?

        • Razor says:

Frank, I imagine it would be because they contribute zilch to the economy. They are net takers. Other than that I quite like them. Cooked medium with a decent honey glaze and you couldn’t tell the difference between them and Tasmanians.

I would have thought a pressure cooker (need to buy one) or a ? dutch oven.
Anywho, heading that way in Dec for the Pacific games, which coincide with the ashes! If you have nothing better to do check out the prices for accm early December. Sadly I can’t afford to go unless old mate, C Pyne offers a sleepover. Fortunately the wife and youngest got a basic room in the city for $215 a night. I was looking at places in Victor Harbour, comparatively well priced (2ishK 7days, overlooking the water, but no refund), and I thought a lovely looking place,80 ks from the city. Not bad as many are staying out in the Barossa Valley. But a well travelled old hockey legend reckons that you have to go amongst a lot of travel that way into the city.. Anywho, wife and youngest sorted. One of me old trivia girls put in a request for some Haig’s chocolate and I put in a request for my wife to get involved with a pie floater(they look the goods), or bring one home

          • Razor says:

Except for you Boa of course.

          • The Outsider says:

            Miton,

I was in SA a couple of weeks ago, in Port Pirie – a very interesting town. Even at this time, a decent room at a decent price in Adelaide was a dicey proposition.

I was flabbergasted when there was no Haig’s for sale at Adelaide airport, so you’d better organise to pick up some from town.

          • Dismayed says:

hey I know you blokes are slow up there in QLD the Australian Government did NOT get 1 cent from “Khemlani”. You are trippin as usual.

          • Lou oTOD says:

            Milton

I am heading down to Adelaide for the Ashes Test and some golf, and you are dead right about the lack of accommodation and the arm and leg they are charging for it. Maybe it’s Weather ill’s way of deficit reduction.

As for the pie floater, the only way your wife could bring one home is by ingesting it, you would need to sniff it out. As for buying chocolates, Haigs or otherwise, in the middle of Adelaide summer, it would be a smoothie before you got to the airport.

          • Milton says:

Thanks, The Outsider will make a note of that.

          • Razor says:

I know they didn’t Dismal but if the Whitlam government were such good money managers why did they need to engage him to borrow? Against Treasury advice I might add.

          • Milton says:

Yes Lou, the place will be pretty much sold out and more than likely hot. The barmy army will be balmy and well balmed.

        • JackSprat says:

No – I do not hate them.
I just think they are shining examples of a group of people who have managed to milk the rest of the country and have one of THE most incompetent state governments in the country.
If they had to stand on their own two feet, I suspect they would be much more hard nosed and pragmatic.

        • Perentie says:

          Looks like the latter, Frank.

      • Dismayed says:

JS. HAHAHA oh my. Do tell us which state is SA receiving funding or aid from apart from the Federal government like every other state.?? Again you prove you don’t want all Australians getting the same opportunities or facilities. You don’t mention that from the time the Feds took over income tax in 1948 through to the mid 1980’s WA received more per capita than SA or QLD for that matter. SA for many years provided vast amounts of wheat, wool, meat, and all sorts of mineral wealth to the country and still does today not to mention it did have a very large manufacturing base including for many years 2 automotive plants. Today NSW still receives Most of its gas from MOOMBA in SA. Are you criticising a government for providing the most up to date health facilities available and for planning to further fund more state of the art facilities for woman and children along with all sorts of new infrastructure to produce more economic benefit?? I note you don’t mention the hospital in WA commissioned by the former coalition government that is over 2 years behind and cost doubling the initial planned cost? You may not be aware the SA government will probably have a nice chunk of the cost of the hospital returned due to the builder not meeting contract requirements. Oh and SA is in Surplus even after all the above and having given Business close to $1 billion in tax relief in the last 2 budgets including the lowest payroll tax in the country.
Oh the banks, the big four made over $30 billion in Profit last financial year alone. Is it your contention, by your statement above, that $370 million over 4 years will somehow turn $30 billion a year of Profits which they pay on average 19% tax on into loss making businesses? Even for you this is absolutely delusional. You have made it clear you do not believe the data from the coalition commissioned Murray review. You have some serious degenerative disorder going on. You need help old girl.

        • JackSprat says:

NSW loses $1billion+ a year in GST revenues which goes to prop up SA and Tasmania.
If you are in surplus, can we have it back?
If you had to live within your means you would not be so flamboyant (Casual?) in the idiocy that emanates from that state.
Anybody that elects SHY has to be put on the watch list.
It was a political decision that got you the automotive industry in the first place. The automotive industry hated the extra costs.
As to the banks and taxes – there is a tendency in this country to tax the hell out of profitable industries with exquisite timing – within a few years of the tax being mooted they end up unprofitable – sell your bank shares 🙂
The tax will not stay at this minute level.

          • Dismayed says:

NSW pays it share as the largest economy in the Nation as set down in the GST carve up that John Howard and Peter Costello formulated. No complaints from you then???? We are a Nation here you know not colonies anymore you may have missed that back in 1901. Why are you not standing up for Victoria that has the second biggest economy and population but only receives 8% of Infrastructure funds since your coalition were elected??? The automotive industry was adding $20 billion a year to the National economy for a $250 million investment. What sort of clown gets rid of an industry with a return like that for such a small investment? Oh that’s right clowns like the ones you support without question.
Do you even understand how the Senate works?? Above the line as most people vote you vote for a Party not an individual. We also have beastiality Bernardi what sort of person puts him at the top of the Senate ticket for years on end. Oh that’s right someone like you. Look at your comment in 2 lines you say if in surplus give it back then the next line says to live within your means. That’s what a surplus is??? HAHAHAHA oh my. You need help. Imagine if you could still get early preventive pathology work done. Your disorder would have been picked up long ago. Next time before hysterically opposing you really should get some facts Just one would be a start. Goodness me. Next.

          • Jean Baptiste says:

All good points Dismayed. Of course the argument that some states contribute more has merit for complaint falls flat on it’s face when we look at the big picture.
The larger states also have large areas and demographics which are depressed and contribute much less than the average.

The states are an anachronistic burden and should be scrapped.
            Give ’em heaps.

Open source material suggests there is between 100 to 150 Australians to return here. All the court issued monitoring orders under the sun will not help. To mount a 24/7 surveillance operation on 100 people takes an extraordinary amount of resources. Resources we simply do not have. That is one of the things which keeps me awake at night.

So what about tackling the sponsors of terrorism? Most of these sad easily led or opportunist terrorists only exist because they are inspired and funded by States or rich individuals. Why aren’t we pursuing those sponsors with appropriate fury and shutting down money supply?

In IS’s early days it was essentially funded by Saudi citizens but there is no evidence of state financial support then and certainly none now. Having said that if IS ever did become a nation state it would look a lot like Saudi Arabia which is for mine, the most repressive state in the world behind only the DPRK.

      • Dismayed says:

Probably but it appears even the Saudi’s are more Agile and Innovative than the ridiculous coalition we have. Did anyone see that Australia has fallen back several places on the pecking order for countries “innovation” rankings?

Might be something to do with a wide open to foreign goods, high tax, red tape heavy environments plus one of the most closely controlled and cossetted labour markets on the planet.

          Any guesses Dismal?

          • Dismayed says:

JS you are delusional. Australia is one of the lowest taxed OECD countries. The labour market is working to suppress wages all while productivity continues to grow and profits soar. Just what business has always wanted and you complain. You are delusional. You never let facts get in the way do you. You really should have your degenerative disorder seen to. Going by your usual warped take on things you wouldn’t need a Dr with knowledge and research you just need he shaman down the road who thinks like you.

          • JackSprat says:

Shucks Dismal, I was hoping to get a hod of the chicken entrails that you use at a cheap price.

          • JackSprat says:

            hold not hod

          • JackSprat says:

Ahhh — on second thoughts you can keep them.

Company tax in Australia is among the highest in the world. That is why many startups go to Singapore.

I wonder how much tax the foreign banks, who are exempt from the tax, pay?

          • Dismayed says:

Sigh. Dividend Imputation ever heard of it??? makes your point about Company tax like just about everything else you say Worthless. Man how can you be so out of touch with what is going on in the world.

          • Dismayed says:

OECD average tax as a % of GDP is 34.2% Australia’s which has risen 2% since the coalition were elected is 27.8% so even with the big increase under the coalition still way below the OECD average. OOOH there are those pesky facts again getting in the way of your bullshit.

          • JackSprat says:

            Geez Dismal, stay on topic,

We were talking about company tax not average tax.

Yep, love dividend imputation – It might be different in your little bubble, but dividends are paid after tax . Dividend Imputation stopped a form of double taxation which lowers the government’s tax receipts.
With or without imputation, companies would pay the same amount of tax.
Take a Bex and lie down before you do yourself damage but stay off the Coca Cola.

          • Dismayed says:

And you just proved you don’t have a clue regarding taxation. The BCA released their annual report earlier this year their members those that paid any tax paid on average 19% on profits.

          • Lou oTOD says:

You rally are a numb nut Dismal. Dividend imputation is calculated on actual dollar tax paid by companies, returned to shareholders as imputation credits dollar for dollar. If not enough credits dividends are proportionately franked, or not at all.

    • Trivalve says:

Elephant in the room JB. Wait until they run out of oil (which will be quite some time). Maybe they’ll steal Yemen’s before they go.
