Humble servant of the Nation

Donald Trump’s Mexico wall: Here’s a little context …

The Donald said he was going to do it and now he is.

The Great Wall of the Rio Grande, the Trump Wall will stretch almost 2,000 miles (3,100kms) from the Pacific to the Gulf of Mexico, putting a gleam in the eye of graffiti artists everywhere. Banksy is said to be drooling in anticipation.

The estimated cost of this stunning feat of architecture is anywhere between $10 and $20 billion depending on who you listen to. Construction time is also a bit of a back-of-the-envelope exercise but by the time an exhausted bricklayer slaps the last bit of mortar on it, it is probable Donald Trump will be around 90 years of age.

In centuries to come anthropologists will marvel at it and wonder what far-sighted genius brought it into existence. Maybe even an old shyster like Erich Von Daniken will propose some unlikely theory that the Trump Wall was built by God who arrived by spaceship with the blueprint and a couple of trillion tons of prefabricated concrete.

Says: Australians are as wealthy as they have ever been. this says all that needs saying …”

But your constant strident criticism on this blog and probably elsewhere has always been that we are all going to hell in a handbasket Dismayed.

Now I see you are obviously acknowledging (at last) that we are all chowing down in the best paddock in the world.

What’s changed your mind; finally found a patch of clover yourself mate?

    • Dismayed says:

CotC Sigh. what is it that stops you from being able to comprehend the written word. We apparently had a debt and deficit disaster. You remember that don’t you. Somehow that debt has increased at twice the rate from Gross debt of $276 billion to over $450 billion in 3 short years. The deficit has gone from $19 billion to $40 billion. But no word of debt and deficit disaster? I simply continue to highlight the ongoing Hypocrisy of your coalition and people like you that unquestionably support them. I have always highlighted the position of Australia as a wealthy Nation. It is your comprehension deficit and or your deceit to project you dishonesty onto me that stops you from accepting facts I provide. your continued infantile misinformation show what you truly are along with Failing the Nation still.. You don’t want to discuss the information I provided just another attempted infantile attack. Pathetic.

      • Carl on the Coast says:

Dismayed – while you vainly question my ability to “comprehend the written word”, I see you appear to be similarly afflicted. You have once again meandered off on another one of your customary evasive and obfuscating tangents in response to the very simple proposition I put to you.

Whilst I would never have the audacity to refer to you as simply being “pathetic”, perhaps we should both go back to school mate.

Goodness me POTUS Trump not taking any guff from the hired help it seems! Give Sarah Palin or Mitt Romney a go I say.

When I first read this I thought it said donkey instead of dolphin. I naturally assumed one of our regulars had gone for a swim in his undergarments to cool down after one of his ever more long, narcissitic and frantic posts, but it appears it wasn’t the case.

  • BASSMAN says:

The thing that probably troubles me most about Trumper is the absolute lack of thought or contingency planning in anything he does.

Whenever you hear diplomacy discussed, they talk about subtlety, nuance, ways to code messages, need to understand the language of diplomacy, the need to have deep awareness of the other cultures and so on. Trump is surrounded by shallow boofheads who even deny the earth is warming, so you’ll get no help there and he himself is totally incapable of the sort of thinking that’s required.

I don’t care all that deeply about Trump stuffing up the USA internally as the Republicans deserve to reap what they have sowed and the Democrats deserve a terrible kicking for taking their eyes off the ball to the extent that Trump could get up in the first place.

I do worry very much about the probability Trump triggering a major war, into which the Looters would almost certainly drag us. And of course if it’s a nuclear war, we are all ‘kd.

And on those 7 countries he has banned re immigration. Not One of them has killed an American since that

March 2006, Mohammed Reza Taheri-Azar, Iranian born, 9 victims, University of North Carolina.

      • BASSMAN says:

…….and the countries that have known terrorists are let off Trumper’s immigration rage…why? Because Trumper has huge business interests in them. Er conflict of interest=impeachment? Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates get let off even though they all have terrorist activity links! GROAN!

Germany, Canada, Scotland have all registered their protest. Turnbull? He piked it. He would not say it ain’t OK for a nation to institute bans of people based on their religion. This is pure cowardice. At least we now know what the 30 pieces of silver were for this demonstration of cowardice-Trump’s acceptance of our refugees.

I see Rupert is not happy with Trumper’s immigration swipe. Through Fox, he has sent him a clear message.

        Reality bites…..

    • darren says:

If I may borrow one of George W Bush’s words I suspect you might be misunderestimating Mr Trump, Bassman. What you are seeing in the US is, in fact, Trump’s thought out plan. And anyone who has dealt with someone like this knows that a contingency plan is not necessary when the Plan A has been so well thought out.

But once you realise that this is the well thought out plan you should be even more worried than you previously were.

Sometimes people just cant imagine what they cant imagine.

Also, technically, Iraqis and Iranians have killed plenty of Americans. Just. not. in. America.

      • Yvonne says:

So what is your take on Trump’s Plan A , Darren?

Also, your last four sentences. I know someone who does that too – on Facebook. Which, until now, I thought was rather ”wanky’, to be honest’.
Is this the new, modern way of making a strong point in the English language?

    • Yvonne says:

Never mind a major war, Bassy, the impact on our politics here looks like it will be significant. Battle lines are already being drawn amongst the already shaky right and Shorten will run around trying to score points – left, right and centre!
      Its all rather depressing.
The post from Dwight regarding internal terrorist attacks in the USA seems to contradict your last paragraph?

  • Rodent says:

Further back in the blog no names mentioned ,a baby and mother mentioned suffering on a decision from the Nauru detention centre. That I feel awfully sorry for and hope all ends well.
This brings to my attention watching documentaries many times the “forgotten Africa”. I wish someone would take some time giving them a mention after these desert women barefoot carrying kids , no homes anymore from shot up Muslim extremist rebels of all kinds in combat with weak government forces ruling the country regions . Hard bloggers getting this out of the mind which turns me against UN forces not acting appropriately with Poko Haron kid napping 244 girls also on slave trade market stuff . Sorry out of time , sad all this suffering in Africa.

    • darren says:

EE, about 8 million people have been killed, various wars, in wars in central and southern africa since 1994. Its impossible to be exact but about 1% of that death toll is possibly attributable to “muslims”.

Your concern is good, but it is a little late and it is disturbing that someone would take the greatest tragedy of our era – eclipsing anything that has happened in the middle east – and make a party political line out of it. Which is exactly what you have just done there.

    • Bella says:

No-one has forgotten Africa mate, but the post was about THIS country, a very lucky country, but not for those refugees we like to keep locked up indefinitely with little hope of a free life.
The powers that be exhibit a disgusting indifference to their ‘duty of care’ to assist fellow human beings who have suffered enough, for long enough. Morrison/Dutton are a pigeon pair of heartless cretins.

If you want to do something about poverty and starvation in Africa think about donating to Amnesty International, World Vision or Doctors Without Borders who’ve been operating in Africa since 1996.
      Regards, Bella

    BASSMAN:
”Avon. You are an appalling creature. you are one of the most hypocritical things I have ever come across. I am glad I don’t actually have to be any where near you in person. Anyone like you who thinks their breeding is superior to others is sick.”

Hmmmmm…………well I reckon that this is all your fault, Bassy! See what you’ve done……………………..Sheesh, I don’t know how I’m gonna be able to carry on.
I know, I best call the Avon lady!! She’ll fix everything. I’m sure she will ………………..no flies on her, to be sure!

    • Dismayed says:

That was ee Dismayed Avon and I stand by every word. If you are going to blame other people all the time you will have to do a better job of convincing yourself and others you know what you are talking about. Try harder in all aspects. Surely with your breeding being superior you can get something right apart from your appalling politics.

      • Yvonne says:

Not blaming anyone but you, Dismayed. You are the only one on this blog who would write something of that calibre directed at someone. We all know that, for God’s sake.
I think everyone here has had a gutsful actually…………………… it has lost its comedy value – well, almost.
I am not in the least bit interested in what you think of me, not in the least. Sorry to disappoint. And yes, I am proud to have some ”breeding” – that you seem to despise so. I don’t suffer from tall poppy syndrome. I was taught to achieve, I was taught to have an opinion, my own opinion. . Must have been the private school I was educated at. 🙂
Now try and restrain yourself. You need not respond. Nobody cares……

    • BASSMAN says:

I never wrote that.I would never write anything like that. I have never written anything like that.

      • Yvonne says:

No of course not Bassy. I wrongly assumed everyone would know who it was written by!! There’s only one person here who does, after all. I’m just saying that you are to blame for him latching on to the Avon bit!! But heck, I need the Avon lady. She’s gonna patch me up and set me on the straight and narrow. Jesus, I may even become a narrow-minded piece of shit too. 🙂

    • Jean Baptiste says:

Unless BASSMAN (I’m assuming BASSMAN said this) is prodigious almost beyond belief the contradiction in the first two sentences is quite evident. If it is true, then I must ejaculate loudly in my best Frenchy accent “Formidibale!”

  • Dismayed says:

Plenty of $$$ if the government is prepared to act in the National interest. Broadening GST and removing Negative Gearing and changing the Capital Gains tax concession rate would have the budget balanced in very short order. Add and emissions trading scheme and an efficient PRRT and MRRT and the Nation is looking forward again. Dictator trump and his maniacs are opening up opportunities for other countries to step into the breach he is leaving as he isolates the US.
