Humble servant of the Nation

Scott Morrison surveys the rubble he’s inherited

A political schism once begun cannot be stopped. It develops a force of its own and moves in ways that cannot be controlled. The consequences can only be appreciated after the fires have been extinguished.

Scott Morrison will be sworn in as the 30th Prime Minister of Australia. The fight is not over. In many ways, it has only just begun. He won the spill 45 votes to Dutton’s 40. Julie Bishop was knocked out in the first round of voting. Morrison’s deputy is Josh Frydenberg.

Malcolm Turnbull’s delaying tactics allowed Morrison to assemble the numbers. He almost certainly did not have them yesterday.

n the comings days, expect the words “healing”, “repair”, “revival” and “restoration” to be vomited out of a thesaurus by senior Liberal figures. These words will be a nonsense, yet another damning exercise in the party’s obsession with introspection.

I got the impression that Abbott’s mere presence in Canberra is likened to a dose of political poison now.

“People who own a lot of coal in the Galilee Basin” are exercising “undue influence on Liberal Party policy.”

    Ain’t that the truth.

Oh dear God, I hope it is not true. I would be so disillusioned.

Agree with your sentiments about the Cats this Friday. Cats beat the D’s in both meetings this year, but the margins were only 2 and 3 and the Cats have won the last five against the D’s. They have the best defensive record of any team this year, conceding an average of 70 pts per game, and didn’t take any injuries from their last two games. Controlling Max Gawn will be vital. I tried to get tickets and would have flown down, but the tickets left were all above the snowline. I’d need oxygen bottles and a sherpa. Go Cats!

Kudelka’s Cartoon in the Oz today says it all about our current Parliament imho, Mr. Insider. The “Whirling Dervish” reigns supreme sadly

  • Dismayed says:

How they hell does disgraced Stuart Robert get a promotion? he has already made ridiculous statements, almost talking in tongues, about Financial services. What a farce this cons government is. No Surprises.

Appears that the member for Curtin got carried away in the “heat” of the moment and made a boo-boo. But it doesn’t have to be curtains.

  • Milton says:

ManU lose to Spurs 3-0 and Mourinho says tactically they did not lose to them. That man has got a bright future in Oz political scene.

  • Milton says:

4 corners appeared to give a sound account of the recent events. I got the impression that Turnbull’s political smarts failed him again. Or rather lived up to their poor lack of judgement. PK was spot on there.

  • Milton says:

The biggest, unfunded, transport project in Oz history. Don’t you just love labor, and Vic labor in particular! $50 billion dollars worth. And no doubt a whack of that fining its way into the union coffers. Money seems to be an ephemeral, intangible, abstract concept to labor and the greens.
Pass me a coaster, I’ve got a plan.

    • Dismayed says:

Australia is decades behind the rest of world in many areas. Public transport being one of them. All major cities must have these underground metro systems. It relieves congestion. The experts have already said it would be relatively straight forward. Melbourne has an old history when it comes to tunnels. this is a great initiative. Only a Labor government would dare do the right thing and build good infrastructure. the coalition have shown time and again they are not able to do projects like this. Just look at the what was to be the most important infrastructure project the Nation ever had. Abbott wrecked purely for politics. Did you not see last weeks report showing over 65% of business have been left without any comms with the abbott driven mixed technoloy farce. It is already having to be be over built at muh higher costs and the new technologies like 5G require Fibre copper will not allow it to work. You also must have missed the latest report from the UK that states Fibre is absolutely Vital for the next Gen comms. That is why the tory government in the UK is rolling out Fibre everywhere. AS usual milton you show just how small minded and how small the world of the cons is. the Economic activity froj a project like the Vic. government is suggesting is huge. You cons just dont get it. If it does not help you you will run it down. No Surprises.

    • Trivalve says:

You’ll be whingeing about lack of infrastructure and short-term thinking tomorrow I suppose Milton

    • Bella says:

      Diversion 101. Go Milton. 😳

    • Dwight says:

Don’t forget the CFMEU 30% cost overrun in Vic. They never factor that into their beer coaster evaluations.

  • Henry Donald J Blofeld says:

Job Vacancy: MP for the Federal seat of Wentworth, pay and conditions excellent. Previous experience not required.
