Great win to the Aussies. They earned their urn and their Mars Bar. But now the AFL pre season is just six weeks away. Carlton’s list has been finalised, and I stand by my earlier prediction that the Blues will make the finals this year. They’ve recruited well and will have a very strong mid field, a good ruckman (or tall forward) and some promising young talent too . They’ve pinched Darcy Lang from the Cats as well. Flag? No but very competitive. With the GoAT back at Kardinia, I expect the Cats will put in a big showing this year and take the flag. The D’s will be a team to watch this year too. I’ll go out on the limb and predict the Blues to knock off the Saints in their first game of the year on Feb 24 at Ikon Park. Tipping comp on again this year? Any Cats fans here?
Re baby octopus Milton, do you have a cut-off point?
A while back whilst in Vanuatu I was seated at a table beside two clearly soul-less, fat, slobbering males who each consumed a plate of still living juvenile octopus. Horrible stuff.
I thought this was beyond cruel & told the waiter to forget my order before I walked.
Live monkey brains would have to the worst I have heard of Bella. They used to be the go somewhere in Asia back in the 80’s . Cut the top of a poor monkey’s head, put it through a hole in the table and away you go. I seem to recall it was highly risky and the monkey probably had its revenge more often than not.
As far as cruelty goes , it would have to be one of the worst. https://china-underground.com/2014/08/16/7-animals-eaten-alive-in-china-graphic-content/
I replied to that earlier Bella and agree it is disgusting, and the monkey stuff seems worse.
And Boa, you are supposed to kill the oysters first. I suggest you freeze them as that is apparently more humane. You may even want to cook them ( a crime for some) as I read (red!) of some lady in the US dying after eating some and catching some awful sounding bug.
I see along with actual RBA AG’s another former AG has stated what any thinking person knows. the coalitions unfunded $65 billion tax cuts for big business will not grow the economy or produce jobs just the opposite is more likely. ” The Treasury also estimated that the full company tax cut package would cost the Budget some $8 billion a year, which would need to be recouped by raising personal income taxes, cutting government investment in infrastructure, or slashing welfare expenditure – either of which would necessarily reduce jobs and growth.”

“The primary objective of the juvenile justice system and for young adult offenders in general is to keep them out of prison because we know once they get there, the die is virtually cast. ”
that’s a hard idea to sell. we need a bit of community support, not of individual decisions but of the general administration and approach.
I agree that keeping young people out of juvenile detention, where possible, is worthwhile, but it can’t be the primary objective and certainly not the only one.
sentencing is also only a part of the story, how the juvenile centres are conducted is a much larger part. Some of those brought before the court are always going to be locked up.
there is no excuse for present day centres to be the training grounds for Chris Flannery that they were in his day. I had friends working in the education unit of the centre in Royal Park in the 80s, and it was not as bad then as in Flannery’s day but still had a good way to go to be acceptable.
btw, if the button to be pushed stuff is directed at me, then you have missed the mark, the only bit of the Herald Sun i have seen since footy season was the headline making the point that someone should have been acting Premier. i know i can get behind the paywall but absent some footy i never bother.
my info came from the ABC Online, and if they are button pushing someone should alert Chris Kenny and Gerard Henderson.
best line on all this dog whistling stuff, remember, if you can hear the whistle, that means you are the dog.
By the time juveniles are incarcerated they have become very very experienced with the criminal justice system. They just don’t get banged up for their first break. Nor should they.
Elon Musk’s SpaceX lofted the super-secret Zuma spacecraft for the U.S. government tonight (Jan. 8), Mr Insider, successfully executing a mission that also featured yet another landing by the first stage of the company’s Falcon 9 rocket. Wonder what its purpose is Mr Insider, maybe to spy on Kimmie in North Korea in which case do hope they fitted a wide angle lens! Elon so busy he can barely scratch himself what with SpaceX, Telsa and of course keeping the lights on for our beloved brothers and sisters in South Australia. Interesting to note the US Government getting SpaceX to do a lot of work previously done by NASA. https://tinyurl.com/yalynd2y
It’s all top secret Henry, but apparently Zuma didn’t make it after failing to release from Musk’s Falcon 7 rocket. It is presumed to have disintegrated in the fall back into the atmosphere.
Are you up to speed with Paw Patrol? I am courtesy of my three year old grandson. Their favourite phrase is “Paw Patrol to the Rescue” and I’m sure the other dogs will be distraught at losing one of their mates.
AlertSA, the smart phone App launched in South Australia for emergency warnings, crashed on Saturday in the middle of a bushfire emergency. It also went down back in October.
The developer’s name is Ripe Intelligence, you couldn’t make this stuff up. The Premier admits it is an embarrassment for the government. Clearly a lack of intelligence.

Which Paul Simon song?
“You Can Call Me Al” or “Still Crazy After All These Years”??? 😄
“Still crazy.” I used to hang around the WACA a lot when I were a young man. What a character.

Suffice to say there is no end to the cruelty that human beings inflict on animals JS.
You’ve got me feeling guilty eating oysters off the rocks Bella 😱
Oysters don’t have a central nervous system Boadicea therefore feel no pain. Relax. 🐙

Very sad news. Ron was an institution at the Age and a cartoonist who cut the nub of a matter so easily. Vale.

Geez, I plead guilty to the ABC Online, The OZ and the SMH who, I think, has been terribly quiet on the subject.
OK, have watched her speech. Oprah *is* a true contender.
Some Dems will be brickin’ it.
Nah, mate.
I’m with HU Jack. Interested to know why you think she’s not up for it.
Column tomorrow, Razor.
We got nukes and tax cuts and you’re ALL GETTING ONE!
Ellen maybe?
