Humble servant of the Nation

Hinch shows damage of good intentions mired in egomania

hinchMuch has been made of the Turnbull government’s successes in the last week of sitting in the federal parliament. Malcolm Turnbull is crowing but there is a broad understanding the hot ticket item, the ABCC legislation which passed through the Senate earlier this week, has been rendered a dud and that Derryn Hinch was played by the CFMEU to cough up concessions.

While being tricked by the CFMEU’s office bearers is hardly something anyone would want to put on their political resumes, Hinch would not see it that way. He may have his own explanation for it. I have no doubt he could spout some rationalisation at the drop of a hat. That is a talent he undoubtedly possesses.

More generally, I’d suggest voters should be leery of people like Hinch becoming representative politicians. Perhaps we should adopt a tacit rule that wherever a political party appears with the word ‘justice’ in it, that party is not worth the ballot paper it is written on. Where it appears featuring the name of a media personality before the word ‘justice’ you can put the house (or indeed the Senate) on it being a self-serving exercise in the sort of ‘look at me’ politics we have come to know and despise in this country.

Do Nothing but backflip Turnbull’s own advisor on Emission says the policy vacuum created by the coalition will force Electricity Prices UP. Never mind, Barnaby and Canavan and the rest of the deniers can just use $billions$ more of taxpayer money to fund their 1950’s way of life.

Jack, further to my comment a while back about the utility of making comments on the new website – I’ve revised my opinion. It’s easier to reply to a point and keep the sub-threads together. Then to see the new stuff you can do a search on the date. Not perfect but probably better than before.

At first I was posting things out of order, TV, so it was probably down to me. When they come through the comments number 20 per page, so I’d go to the bottom of the page and post unaware there were others on page two. Anyway, I got wind of that and always go back as far as I can go so the the threads look coherent. Incidentally apologies to all for slow posting. I’ve been head down bum up for the last 24 hours. Regular service has been resumed.

The science of climate change is so flawed only total fools still embrace it. Al Gore hang your head in shame along with all your other loony converts.

Sorry old fellow. I accidentally put up an old link. Here is something more up to date.

But as I said earlier, lets not get too bothered about sea levels.

Oh come on, you can’t pin that absurd fraud on Hollywood. The pros in Hollywood would have done a bit of research and made a much more convincing movie than that rubbish. I have much admiration for “Buzz the Unblinking” for keeping a straight if somewhat grim face. You can hear him thinking, “just how gullible are you lot of fawning twats, nobody has ventured more than a few hundred kilometres from the terra firma in the last, nearly, fifty years, because they can’t and you still don’t get it.”

Fatalist? Moi? Would a fatalist bother even trying to penetrate the thick skulls of climate deniers? I’m a hopeless case of optimism.

No. Too many books to get through at the moment, and so little time.

I’m embarrassed to have to ask. What part of “permanently under water do you not understand.” ?

Greenpeace! Come come CoHD you’re better than that.

      • Dismayed says:

Did you check the references from the report before your usual kneejerk “response” ? Would it be possible for you to produce evidence of any kind to even attempt to counter? You are the face of the renewable conservative outrage industry. No wonder the Ronald McDonald mad hansons are doing so well up there. No need for evidence innuendo and misinformation is a way of life. If you don’t get your way you just try and blow everything else up with hyperbole and misinformation.

First reductio ad absurdem, now shoot the messenger. Surely you are better than that. Does not alter the facts presented. Too much choir practice?

I see that BOTH poles are losing a lot of ice. Nice lake that they have just grown in the WAIS. Wasn’t there before. The Arctic is only 20C above average. Explains the snow in Hawaii. I also note that this year is a record hot one as well. Three in a row is statistically insignificant?. Good thing it is nothing to worry about eh? Where is scaper and his Delinpole’s Dalton cycle? ROFLMAO
I see that Kvetch on the Coast has also not changed his pedantic MO. Keep on kvetching Carl and remember that it is better to say nothing then lots of nothing.
JB, you have the patience of a saint.
Razor, do you have shares in Adani?
I am so glad that the adults are in charge and the debt and deficit disaster has been resolved. This government has been in power long enough to own the state of the economy. That the LIbs are better economic managers is as relevant as any other baseless internet meme. As I have pointed out many times a while ago I have expected them to crash the economy, in fact my economic plans depend on it.
Bassy and Dismayed often supply facts but I note the severe lack of them from their detractors. Both major parties are crap, the Libs even more than Labor but what amazes me is the support for Hanson et al. Kornbluth’s marching morons are well and truly here and the movie Idiocracy appears to be a prescient documentary.
Yvonne, two fists for showing you are not a rusted on. Just don’t quote our laziest treasurer, you know, the one that crashed the economy in 1996 for the sake of ideology. Don’t know if you were here for that but trust me that it happened. Was also the start of the housing bubble
The best economic stimulus would be to increase the dole 50% or at least to pension level. Countries that have high social security payments generally have less long term recipients. Before anyone craps on about bludgers remember that there are about 5 to 6 unemployed for every job available so why punish them.

Good to see you back CoHD. Just keeping me old mate on his toes. He has a tendency to drift and become complacent on issues of import.

I trust your health is okay.

        CoHD (5.41pm)

says: “… Carl and remember that it is better to say nothing then lots of nothing.”

I agree CoHD. You’ll note I said nothing about the length of your post.

Good to see you back COHD…
