Humble servant of the Nation

Scott Morrison surveys the rubble he’s inherited

A political schism once begun cannot be stopped. It develops a force of its own and moves in ways that cannot be controlled. The consequences can only be appreciated after the fires have been extinguished.

Scott Morrison will be sworn in as the 30th Prime Minister of Australia. The fight is not over. In many ways, it has only just begun. He won the spill 45 votes to Dutton’s 40. Julie Bishop was knocked out in the first round of voting. Morrison’s deputy is Josh Frydenberg.

Malcolm Turnbull’s delaying tactics allowed Morrison to assemble the numbers. He almost certainly did not have them yesterday.

n the comings days, expect the words “healing”, “repair”, “revival” and “restoration” to be vomited out of a thesaurus by senior Liberal figures. These words will be a nonsense, yet another damning exercise in the party’s obsession with introspection.

So, Mr Insider ex-ousted PM Turnbull now retires to his $60 Million home plus $200 Million Plus fortune and ex-ousted PM Tony Abbott thinks he is the victor! Wasnt that long ago we read Abbott still has a Mortgage on his house. The reason Abbott is staying on as an MP is that he really is unemployable in the Private Sector and we all know that. Strewth

Vale Mirka Mora. Artist, early foodie, bohemian, and wonderful life loving character.

Never knew her name before today Milt but have done some reading. A great loss indeed. Survivor of the holocaust to boot.

Heres hoping Malcolm Turnbull lets rip, “balls to the wind” as sayeth Blofeld, once he is unencumbered and unobliged to that ship of slimy courtiers and eunuchs.

He is a man that could do a great deal about shaping the nations future outside of parliament. And I have a happy feeling he will relish the conflict with the old guard and minions.

Give ’em heaps Malcolm. They do not like it ‘up ’em, which makes it all the sweeter.

  • Boadicea says:

And the circus rolls on. We have livestock dying in the paddocks, energy problems etc etc – and Bill is worried that Julie Bishop may get the GG gig! It hasn’t even happened yet, for God’s sake.
What’s the issue if she gets the job? She’s very eligible – as was his mother-in-law.

I read somewhere on here, I think, that Rudd might be a Shorten pick, which is enough to scare the bejesus out of any sane person. More likely that he would suggest Gillard, at least out of that pair. Shorten would most likely pick himself as a safety net.
Personally I’d lean more towards Bettina Arndt or Merv Hughes.

$7 billion untaxed dollars, untouched, sitting in Farmers special banks accounts. Over $10 Billion in Emergency Drought Welfare given to farmers in the last decade. No other group of Australians get the level of Subsidies and Welfare the Farmers do without having to do something different for the support. (except for the fossil fuel industry). Over $5 billion wasted by Barnaby on water according to the auditor General in the last 5 years. The Farmers Federation calling for a Climate change policy to ensure the $billions in Welfare Farmers gets is no longer wasted. and the coalition want to ensure J.Bishop can continue to suck the Nation dry.? With an election to be held shortly. Do yo recall Steve Bracks oh of course not he is not on your teams list. You are typical Nasty conservative supporter Yvonne. Open your eye.

And we are running out of fodder, and there is $400 million worth of high quality fodder waiting for export to China and Japan and Julie B would make a brilliant GG – poise, intelligent, humane, hard working – all class.

    • Penny says:

This issue is the least of our worries. Julie is not down and out yet, she’s had time to rethink the hasty decisions she made (understandable decisions imho). If she doesn’t bounce back into some leadership role before the next election I will be surprised. The GG’s position should never be given to a politician anyway……it’s a useless and anachronistic role . Most young Australians have trouble naming the PM….even before last weeks shenanigans, they definitely can’t name the GG or in fact be aware we even have one.

PPM Mal better be careful now he’s out of power. He may think his smartphone, signal app, is safe but https://goo.gl/etSKf7

Nice piece of honesty from Barnaby Joyce on Four Corners last night re honest politicians…there are none.

    • Boadicea says:

I quite enjoyed Barnaby, Bella. He’s taken a beating from all sides, but there he is, being frank and getting on with the job.

  • Milton says:

    Bring back the oof!

  • Bell-boy says:

I was listening to one of the big boys from the business community today talking about our next PM’s (that’d be Bull Shi**en) speech at a recent pay-to-sit with Bill business lunch. It was scary stuff. Bill basically said he doesn’t care about big business. No, more like, he doesn’t like big business and nothing positive should be expected. Welcome to the new order, comrades.
