Have you ever thought you might be a secret Italian? Maybe you’re a Canadian and never knew, eh? Perhaps you quietly pine for the fjords of New Zealand but don’t know why?

See, here’s me thinking the Australian Parliament and the Senate in particular had become a freak show P.T. Barnum have been proud to tour the world with, but really it’s just a run of the mill soapie.

It’s a series of Home and Away scripts where the chilly winters of Canberra are replaced by the constant sunshine of Summer Bay.

BASSMAN says: July 27, 2017 at 8:40 pm . Report out today showing you are correct as all thinking people have known all along. Whyalla is still there and getting More investment all the time. Barnaby is an Fwit.

Yes Whyalla doing well. Their steel is being used to make the rails for the Adani rail line…….

    • BASSMAN says:

My main point is 1. ABBOTT and the Looters won the 2013 election on 2 of the most huge lies…high electricity prices suposedly caused by the carbon tax when other factors werecto blame and 2. Labors debt which is now 3 times worse.Abbott promised electricity prices would be lower….they are in some cases three times higher but most importantly Tones said he would prosecute greedy power providers. There is massive proof of rorting and overcharging but the Loters do nothing. No one touches the bigvend of town and Looter donors. As Richo sed in The Oz last week not long now.The sleeper at the next election will be another broken promise…the shocking performance of the NBN.Millions with dial up speeds waiting with their baseball bats. You see Bald the Looters see the NBN asca cost rather than can investment. They are hopeless on nation building.Never forget Menzies fought tooth and nail to stop Labors Snowy River scheme and then lined up to take the credit when it was completed…ditto for all of the new skool buildings during the GFC.

All right, I understand you need to be an Australian. But do you really need to be human? Perhaps we could do a modern day version of Caligula and see a few horses in the Senate. They would at least be a step up from the donkeys they would be replacing.

Or perhaps we could simplify the whole matter of citizenship for pollies. If you can swear your fealty to the Boxing Day Test at the MCG you’re in, otherwise someone else gets your seat.

Not sure why I get a ‘Not secure’ warning every time I visit your site. I know that some on the other side of the wall, well probably quite a few, think that is a valid description of your political opinions, but surely they cannot have that much influence? Perhaps my virus protection needs an upgrade.

I note, Mr Insider, that you have well deservedly include Big Rodney Culleton in your Cast of “Home and Away”, as you know I have paid close attention to this young fellow on your esteemed blog, Champion of the Underclass and bless the poor little bastard unable to take a single trick in the last year or so. You write brilliantly and I quote: ” Rugged Rodney Culleton, the big boof-headed master of the pratfall with a heart of gold who managed to make overturning a table full of cup and saucers look like a Japanese student domino fall tilt at the Guinness Book of Records, had keener viewers glued to the couch every night.” Strewth.

  • Milton says:

Yairs, sad day when big Rod got culled.
And whilst a few may have dual citizenship not many of our pollies can be accused of having split personalities, or any personality for that matter.
Taking it further do transgender people have to renounce their previous gender or are they considered dual gender? And does that mean I may lost an uncle but gained an aunt?

    • Aunt Phyllis says:

Aunt Phyllis saying a big hi to my favourite nephew dear Milton. Long time no see and you may well better remember me as Uncle Phillip.

  • JackSprat says:

Oh Gawd! Can it get any worse?

    Another double dissolution coming up?

    • Henry Blofeld says:

Lead me too a Polling Booth JackSprat your humble correspondent is ready and fired up to vote – except not sure whom for. Anyone worthy in your opinion?

      • Dismayed says:

The local member of your choice.

      • JackSprat says:

Lower house does not count around here – the libs get about 60+% of the primary votes and nobody with a brain in their head bothers to contest the electorate.
In the Senate – ABM – anybody but the majors.
I am sick to death with all their posturings, stupidity and spin.

  • Boadicea says:

Strikes me Jack, that he rest of the world must be laughing – and wondering if we are all insane.

  • Tracy says:

My birth certificate is two foot long and in Welsh and English so it’s rather hard to forget.
A dill at Aus house rang me when I applied to emigrate saying they couldn’t understand it so I said try reading the English bit, you know the writing under the Welsh bit.
Loved the look on the face of the bank teller when I produced it so I could open a bank account when I first arrived here.
Funny thing was I was on my mothers Australian passport until I was 12 even though I wasn’t an Australian citizen, couldn’t go on my fathers because it was a military passport.

  • Henry "Aussie as Vegemite" Blofeld says:

I am afraid I find it impossible to believe that any Adult would not have at least some inkling of his or her Foreign Citizenship, Mr Insider, particularly if you are standing for High Office in our Parliament I think the ones caught so far are in the main playing “ducks and drakes” and the ones not YET caught should pop their heads up and “fess up” and resign! If Malcolm Roberts is one of these no loss to Australia imho going on his dopey right wing nutter input so far.

  • Rhys Needham says:

I choose to believe that Home and Away and Neighbours look credible compared to the current Senate (let alone the US one).

If Pauline Hanson’s sister actually becomes a One Notion Senator, how long before the MMMBop memes start flooding social media?
